Here is what our team has been up to in May:

✅ Francophone Events: Hosted two impactful in-person workshops in Moncton, connecting directly with our Francophone community.

✅Strategic Partnerships: Our CEO and entrepreneurship team connected in Fredericton with the local Chamber of Commerce to strengthen ecosystem ties.

✅Industry Leadership: Adedayo, one of our Business Advisors in Halifax, participated as a guest panelist at the Kings Envoy Church Business Summit, where he shared valuable insights on business growth.

✅Team Expansion: We are thrilled to welcome new talent to the BBI family, including our new Business Advisor for Cape Breton: Wayne Miller!

Beyond these highlights, our team has been hard at work behind the scenes launching the new cohort of Barrier Breakers Youth, conducting SBCCI monitoring activities, and kicking off our new marketing training series for entrepreneurs.

In May we laid the groundwork for the next half of the year, keep your eyes on our social media feeds. We're excited to share what June has in store.

When Black organizations grow, communities grow with them.

Over the past two months, the Supporting Black Canadians Communities Initiative (SBCCI) team continued their monitoring activities of Black non-profit organizations funded through capital assistance and capacity building funding streams.

As part of our cross Canada monitoring exercise, the team visited and supported more than 10 organizations to strengthen their impactful work.

BBI extends our gratitude to African Canadian Business Chamber of Commerce, AIACNB, Horn Youth Services Foundation, Kasandy Foundation, African Caribbean Food Bank, Association Femmes Francophones, Newcomers housing Society, Guiding Light Women Empowerment Society, Focas and all of the SBCCI funded organizations working tirelessly to make an impact in the Black community.

Your work does not go unnoticed, and we are pleased to partner with you as you grow your organizations.

To learn more about the SBCCI program and impact to date, visit our website at www.bbi.ca/sbcci.

Monday Insights: Your network is your ultimate safety net.

If the Summit taught us anything, it’s that entrepreneurship is a team sport.

Dennis Mitchell took the stage to share his journey, reminding every founder in the room that while the obstacles are guaranteed, facing them alone is optional. The right circle doesn't just celebrate your wins-they help you navigate the questions and setbacks that happen behind the scenes.

Let’s bring that Summit energy into the new week. Take two minutes today to check in on a fellow entrepreneur or mentor. A quick word of encouragement goes a long way.
