On the occasion of Asian Heritage Month 2026, the Afghan Community of Nova Scotia (ACNS) was honored to participate in the Asian Heritage Month Fashion Show, proudly showcasing the beauty, diversity, and cultural identity of Afghanistan through traditional clothing, music, and community presence. 🇨🇦🇦🇫
Traditional Afghan clothing is more than just attire; it tells the story of our history, identity, memories, resilience, beauty, and the deep connection our people have with their culture and roots.
This year, our participation carried a message beyond cultural celebration. The event also aligned with the message of Right to Learn Afghanistan and the National Red Pashmina Walk — raising awareness and standing in solidarity with Afghan women and girls who are still being denied access to education, participation, and equal opportunities.
We believe that Afghan women and girls have the right to learn, grow, lead, and build their futures with dignity, freedom, and equal opportunity.
We sincerely thank all participants, team members, families, friends, supporters, and organizers of this event. We also extend our gratitude to Halifax Immigration Partnership and the HRM Office of Diversity and Inclusion for creating this valuable space to celebrate cultures, identities, and communities in Halifax.
