OUR 54TH ANNUAL MEETING..
A recap of the season; everything from lake stakes and signs, to the printed Trail Guide, and of course HCSA Operations
What a winter, the HCSA did way more with less ! Rewind to winter 2025 with 5 groomers we logged 1,795 grooming hours/machine time.. Winter 2026 with 4 groomers (1 less), 1,863 grooming hours/machine time. We were pretty much non stop at 229 grooming shifts over the season.
On the other side, we lost 21 days, parts/service/downtime/weather but doubled up when we could to get through it. FYI 161 cms of snow November to April. That's the operations side in a nutshell.
Of equal or greater importance for the HCSA is a celebration and recognition of our dedicated volunteers. Snowmobiling is two things, get a trial permit, ride, and enjoy. Additionally our group engages in The Business of Snowmobiling managing fleet, trails, landowners, fundraising, and so much more.
This is the HCSA crew that delivers trails to our community and ridership. It's tiring and very consuming pretty much 12 months a year.
Extra special and with heartfelt thanks, are our 140 landowners scattered all over the County of Haliburton and beyond. These are folks who allow us on their land with no compensation offering some of sleddings nicest trails anywhere featuring interesting terrain and awesome vistas. Our landowners do so freely with few reservations and recognize our trails fuel visitor spending during the “quiet months” .
Now….About these volunteers of ours. We are so lucky as you will see. This is the crew that makes it happen ! Please come to an HCSA meeting sometime. Learn more about us at hcsa.ca
