Open Studio tomorrow at 7! We will do a glaze fire tomorrow night. The next two firings (June 11 & 18) will be bisque fires and then we have to unfortunately pause all firings until middle of August. Hoping to see you all tomorrow!

Hi Potters,

We had a successful glaze fire yesterday, wahoo!!

While we actually don't have the new breaker yet, we figured out (thanks to someone else's accidental error) that we can "trick" this temperamental breaker into getting up to cone 5 temperature (about 2200 Fahrenheit) by using a different setting than what is typically recommended and the results are good!

Having said that we have also had a couple of mishaps where glazes did drip on the shelves, ooops! We don't know who all the offenders are (and this is by no means intended as finger pointing) we are all learning together, so let's be extra careful ---

For example:
- leave more room on the bottom rim than you think is needed
- never ever glaze the bottom
- read online about the behaviour of your glaze (does it run, how many coats are recommended?)
- put it on a 'cookie' (i.e. a broken piece of bisque ware, or make a small slab and bisque it for the purpose of glaze firing)

We plan to do another glaze fire on Thursday and expect to have a full load as not all the pieces got fired and some are still sitting by the kiln, but please bring a few to add to the load, this is exciting!

Open Studio Night is tomorrow, 7pm!

We will do a bisque fire so that people can bring their bisque wares to the glazing workshop on Sunday. (There is still room in the glazing workshop, so please sign up!)

The replacement breaker has not arrived yet, but we can do a bisque fire as its a lower temperature. The electrician has promised to let us know ASAP when the breaker arrives and has been replaced!
