Cualli Tonalli (Good morning in Nahuatl) all,

We would like to thank everyone that came out to spend time together and took the time to read the orange folders with the powerful stories and recollections from what was experienced at residential schools.

We would like to also thank the Guelph Museums for hosting us all, all people who became volunteers out of no where to help once again such as Sel who assisted with smudging to the museum staff who are always so resourceful and accommodating.

🧡 Save the Date! Join us on September 30 from 5-8 p.m. at Guelph Civic Museum for a Truth & Reconciliation After-School Gathering. Together, we will honour the children lost to residential schools, support Survivors and their families, and celebrate Indigenous culture, language, ceremony, and community. Featuring a sacred fire, drumming, land-based activities, and a special raptor presentation. All are welcome.

We are sliding the Friday Family Night event time by 1 hour later to 7pm – 9pm now.

For the next 3 months we are showing an Indigenous documentary and then having a discussion afterwards. We will be making separate information posts before each showing and an Eventbrite event to gauge attendance.

Thanks for the understanding and hope to have great discussions after each documentary.

The Guelph Indigenous Community Council is pleased to announce 2 scholarship opportunities for Season 1 of the 4 Seasons of Indigenous Learning, offered by the Outdoor School & Store. These scholarships are intended to support Indigenous attendees from Guelph who meet the eligibility requirements and to increase access to meaningful learning and cultural programming.

Eligibility
Live in Guelph, Ontario.
Provide proof of Indigenous heritage or community-recognized identity.
Demonstrate community service, volunteer work, or cultural involvement in your local or home community.
Submit one or two reference letters from a non-family member (for example: an Elder, teacher, mentor, or community leader).

Please make sure all required documents are uploaded with your submission.

Sponsorship call-out
We are also inviting businesses, organizations, and community partners to sponsor Indigenous attendees. Sponsorships help expand access to learning opportunities — our hope is to grow the number of scholarships in future seasons and eventually open scholarships to non-Indigenous attendees as the program expands.
