Big news!

New Skate Node coming to the south east! Primary survey is live until March 25th! Click the link in our bio to share your thoughts!

The City is asking where you would prefer the skate node is placed within Mkinaak Donjibaa Park, and if you would prefer a straight skate path close to the pedestrian walkway or do you prefer a “L” shaped skate node, removed from the pedestrian walkway.

The features within the skatepark will be determined at a later date.

We’re stoked to be invovoled in the Re-Purpose to fest to kick off Circular Economy Month on October 4th from 11-4!

We are looking to collect used decks, trucks, wheels, and shoes that could help get/keep someone skateboarding.

Please dm us if you have anything to be reused or repurposed.

Circular Economy Month is a month to celebrate individual and collective sustainability efforts, embrace circular solutions and encourage others to take action to protect the planet and prioritize people.

Let’s do our part 👊

Get on Board 2025 is in the books!

We met and connected 25 new skaters with their own skateboard and helmet, worked on some fundamental skateboarding skills, made new friends, and ate a ton of pizza.

Thanks again to the city of Guelph and Bloomberg Philanthropies for the funding and a major shout to our collaborators, The Ward Skate Shop, the Guelph Neighbourhood support coalition, Onward Willow Neighbourhood Group, and Shelldale Family Gateway for all the work they do to nurture a livable, playable, and lovable Guelph.

Last but not least, thank you to all the volunteers who made the day possible!

We’re headlining this Thursday, July 10th!

Join us from 8 to 9 pm to learn about about how local skateboarders are taking steps to chart a more sustainable future.

With a deep understanding of skateboarding and many of the sustainability challenges ahead, we are leveraging the resilient, creative and collaborative characteristics of our local skate scene to challenge the status quo and build up the community so we’re all better poised to confront the uncertain challenges ahead.

The 4 decades of street skateboarding downtown Guelph has written a history of our downtown that is out of sight to many Guelph residents. Skaters have been interpreting our downtown core as their canvas of self-expression since the 80’s or earlier. From the Post Office Ledge spanning the alley connecting Wyndham street North to Baker Street (where the new downtown public library is being built) to SGS and the Sleeman Centre, all of these locations have made an impact on skaters in Guelph and in turn skaters have had an impact on these spaces. On May 4th we had the pleasure of touring downtown Guelph with 22 curious people to get a glimpse into how skaters see and interpret these spaces, the evolution of skateboarding in Guelph, and share stories of the past and present and our intention to remain in this space in the future.

It was a great turnout for our walk. Achieving not only our fundraising goal but the amount of people who came out to support made all the difference. Last night was all about raising awareness of the homeless crisis in not just our backyard but everywhere. Thank you to for preparing a meal for everyone who came out to support this great event.
All of us at cannot wait to see all your bright faces next year!

In response to costs associated with Covid and inflation, Mayor Cam Guthrie is exercising Strong Mayor Powers to delay investment in Parks and Recreation, including skateboarding. Although the Parks and Recreation Master Plan (PRMP, council approved in 2022) recognizes the increased demand on Silvercreek Skatepark in recent years, in an attempt to “trim the fat” from the city budget, the mayor is proposing to delay funding by 10 years for the current 10-year Parks and Recreation Master Plan. For reference, the PRMP planned to construct another major skatepark in the south and four nodes (offering more equitable access to skatepark terrain across the city, like Norm Jary) and to evaluate the ability to add lighting at Silvercreek Skateboard Park.

Now is the time to make our community seen and heard if we want to see skateboarding supported in Guelph. Traditional sports have benefitted from the ongoing support of the city for decades so maybe now it’s time to be a squeaky wheel and speak up to help Cam and the City better understand the impact supporting the development of skateparks has on us and the community.

And, YES, your opinion can impact the level of support we will see in the coming years.

Reach out to your city councillors and the Mayor to ensure your voice gets heard. A survey and a letter example/template are linked in our bio and all contact information is included below.
