Tim Hortons is one of Canada’s most recognizable brands. That’s why this partnership with the Harry Potter franchise is so disappointing.

J.K. Rowling has spent years using her platform and influence to oppose transgender rights. While she denies being transphobic, her words and actions have contributed to a climate that many trans people and LGBTQ+ organizations say fuels discrimination and exclusion.

Q***r Connections believes that businesses have a responsibility to consider the impact of the brands they choose to promote. Supporting a franchise that continues to financially benefit someone actively working against the rights and dignity of members of our community sends the wrong message.

Our trans community deserves better. We hope Tim Hortons reconsiders this partnership and chooses to stand with inclusion, not controversy.

Until then, we’ll be spending our dollars with businesses whose values better reflect the Canada we believe in.

Tim Hortons do better.

Today marks the 57th anniversary of the Stoneall Riot.

Stonewall was not just a moment in history, it was a turning point that changed everything.

In 1969, at the Stonewall Inn in New York City, q***r and trans people, many of them young, poor and marginalized, finally said “enough.” What followed was not a planned movement but a spontaneous uprising against police harassment and violence that had been a daily reality for so many in the 2SLGBTQIA+ community.

At the heart of that resistance were trans women of color and drag queens who refused to back down. People like Marsha P. Johnson, Sylvia Rivera, and Stormé DeLarverie were not just present - they helped ignite a movement that would ripple across decades and borders.

We would not have Pride marches, community spaces or many of the rights being fought for today without their courage. And still, the fight is not over. Trans women, especially trans women of color, continue to face violence, discrimination and systemic neglect.

Honoring Stonewall means more than remembering it. It means continuing to show up. It means protecting trans lives. It means refusing to let their contributions be erased or softened for comfort.

Marsha, Sylvia, Stormé and so many others did not get to live in a world that fully recognized their humanity. The least we can do is keep pushing to build it.🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

To all the trans women in Grande Prairie.

I’m so sorry for the hateful comments and cruelty being thrown around online right now. Please don’t let the voices of ignorance convince you that you are who they say you are. You are worthy. You are loved. You belong here.

There is a community standing behind you, even when it doesn’t always feel that way. Myself, specifically, and I’m sure all of the members of our Q***r Connections group will continue to speak up, stand beside you and fight for your rights especially in the moments when you feel too tired and scared to fight for yourselves.

Please hold on to the truth of who you are, not the lies others try to place on you.

Sending so much love to each of you. You are not alone. ❤️🏳️‍⚧️ I am sorry.

Just a heads up!

A message to our community. 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

We are disappointed to share that after reaching out directly to clarify whether trans women and non-binary people would be welcomed in this local “women’s” space, we received responses that made it clear they do not recognize or affirm trans identities.

Because of that we cannot in good conscience, recommend this space to our 2SLGBTQIA+ community. Trans women are women. Non-binary people deserve respect and dignity. Everyone deserves to know whether a space is safe before walking into it.

This isn’t about attacking or harassing anyone. It’s about ensuring our community has the information needed to make informed decisions about where they spend their time and energy.

Moments like this are exactly why supporting one another matters. Keep showing up for each other, keep building the spaces we wish existed and keep choosing compassion, advocacy and community over exclusion.❤️🧡💛💚💙💜

🌈The rainbow agenda is officially underway… and by agenda, we mean community, acceptance, support and an entirely reasonable amount of glitter. ✨

Happy Pride Month, friends! Whether you’re loud and proud, quietly figuring things out, or cheering from the sidelines, you belong here. ❤️

Today is IDAHOBIT, International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Intersexphobia, and Transphobia and a reminder that visibility, dignity and safety still aren’t guaranteed for many in our 2SLGBTQIA+ communities.

This day is about more than awareness. It’s about recognizing the real harm caused by hate, silence, exclusion, and systems that still make people fight just to exist as their true selves.

To every person who has ever had to hide parts of who they are to feel safe, to be accepted, or simply to get through the day, you matter exactly as you are. Your identity is not up for debate. Your existence is not a political issue. You deserve to be seen, respected and protected.

Real allyship isn’t quiet when things get uncomfortable. It speaks up. It listens. It makes room. It stands beside people even when the conversation is inconvenient.

Today and every day, may we choose compassion over judgment, understanding over fear and love over hate.

Hate is loud. Love should be louder.
We all live under the same sky. There should be room here for everyone. 🌈

Le****ns have always been a powerful part of 2SLGBTQIA+ history, even when that hasn’t been fully recognized. From standing in resistance at Stonewall, to building some of the first le***an rights organizations, to showing up as caregivers and advocates during the AIDS crisis, le***ans have helped shape and hold this community together.

Today is a reminder that le***an voices, leadership, and love have always mattered and always will. 🧡🤍🩷
