Today I celebrate in a big way!

It is my silver anniversary

25 years free from domestic violence.

Let that sink in for a moment…

A lifetime ago I was a different person, in a much different place.

Every year that goes by I have grown, flourished, celebrated, commiserated. This year the only tears are happy tears of a road well-travelled.

The war is far from over, sometimes it feels like nothing in society has changed since that very bleak evening in my life. Where a few moments in time changed the course of so many lives. But I have to believe that even though the struggle continues that we have victories to celebrate.

I am the most clear-headed and forward-moving in my own situation that I have ever been. Many demons have been laid to rest for me. That has taken hard work, very hard work. It has been so worth it.

Today I am thankful for all of my angels, earth-side and above, you all know who you are.

Today I am thankful for all of my Facebook friends who have warriored right along with me.

Prayers to all of you, giving strength to continue the work that needs to be done.
