A message for supporters from our refugee family:

"We, the Rahimi Family, wish to express our heartfelt gratitude to each of you for the life-changing support, compassion, and kindness you have shown us.

Coming from a very difficult life in Afghanistan, and the hardship we endured in the period that followed in Pakistan, our journey to Canada marked not only a change of place but a rebirth of hope. What once felt impossible became possible because of your generosity and humanity.

Your compassion has touched our hearts in ways words can hardly describe. You gave our family more than a new home—you gave us safety, belonging, and the strength to start again. For that, we will remain forever thankful.

We pray that each of you be blessed with good health, peace, and endless joy. Your kindness will always be remembered and cherished by our family.

With profound gratitude and warmest regards, the Rahimi Family."

Our second Afghan family has arrived and it has been a long journey for them:

August 2021: Taliban took control of Afghanistan and the family was forced into hiding. Father had been a journalist and daughter an educator of women.

October 2021: Government of Canada offered a special program to help Afghanis threatened because of their work as teachers, journalists, translators etc.

January 2022: GFORCe3 heard of their situation and agreed to
sponsor them.

February 2022: We financially helped them escape to Pakistan where they again went into hiding (The Taliban have a long reach).

March 2022: We submitted the application for sponsorship but the allotment of spaced for 2022 was used up.

We tried again for 2023 but with no luck.

Finally in 2024 the application was approved and they arrived in
October.

DONATION REQUEST

Having supported this family in Pakistan and Turkey for 18 months, we need some more funds to fulfill our commitment and help them establish their new life here in Canada.

A tax receipt for your donation is available either through Knox Presbyterian Church or Norval United Church. Make your cheque out to the church and indicate refugee on the cheque.
