Adopt an Elder 2025 – Program Update & Gratitude
As this year’s Adopt an Elder program comes to a close, we want to share an honest update and extend our deepest gratitude.
This year, 61 elders were adopted, while 210 elders were not adopted in time. Because of this, our team had to step in to ensure every elder was still supported. With the help of incredible community members and outside community organizations, we were able to raise additional funds, purchase gifts, and shop for elders ourselves so that no one was left without.
We would like to sincerely thank Mohamed from Prestige, Alisha from Summit GM, Omar from Islamic Relief Canada, Ellie from Euphoria Spa, Fort McMurray 468 First Nation for their donations and volunteers, Ashleigh and Brian Ross, Brian Cardinal and the guys from Ross Residence, and Nikki and Jayce from Makwa HD Services, Vargo Investments, and of course Amy Tobin for starting this whole initiation years ago- thank you all for stepping up and supporting this initiative when it mattered most.
This program has always been about dignity, care, and showing our elders they are remembered and valued. While adoption numbers were lower than hoped this year, the community still showed up in a powerful way—through donations, volunteering, shopping, wrapping, and helping behind the scenes.
We want to sincerely thank:
-Everyone who adopted an elder
-Community members who donated or volunteered
-Organizations who stepped in to help financially and logistically
-All helpers who assisted with shopping, wrapping, and organizing
Because of you, our elders will still receive gifts and care, and that is what truly matters.
Thank you for standing with us and for honoring our elders.
