USW9346 Women of Steel are ensuring no students will go without supplies during the upcoming school year.

The local union donated 99 backpacks full of school supplies to schools in the Crowsnest Pass, the Sparwood Food Bank and the Fernie Women’s Resource Centre at the end of August. The group contributed just over $14,000 worth of school supplies, fundraised through donations and proceeds from four barbecues at the Elkview Bus Stop in June.

This is the 15th year of the Backpack Campaign. The USW9346 Women of Steel have provided 1,148 backpacks full of school supplies and raised over $125,000 since inception, ensuring that no child goes without the supplies they need for the school year.
