Terry started his Marathon of Hope alone on a foggy morning in St. John's. By the time he reached Ontario, whole towns were running beside him. That is what a team really is. Not a crowd. Just people who decided not to let someone go it alone.

Good news if "team" sounds like a big commitment: a team can be you plus one. A partner. Your kid. The neighbour two doors down. The dog who treats every walk like a marathon of hope. Pick someone, give yourselves a name, and you are officially a team.

Teams are the most fun way to do this. You fundraise together, cheer each other on, and cross the finish line with your people beside you on September 20.

45 years ago today, we lost Terry Fox, just one month before his 23rd birthday.

Though his life was far too short, his legacy continues to grow with each passing generation.

Today, on behalf of a grateful people in the City of Port Coquitlam and beyond, we humbly laid flowers at Terry’s resting place in the community he called home.

Thank you, Terry. Port Coquitlam will always carry your spirit forward.

The day family, friends, and all of Canada lost Terry Fox. After running an incredible 5,373 km across the country on his , Terry lost his life to cancer.
