September is Su***de Prevention Awareness Month. 💛

For the Elk Valley Su***de Task Force, this isn't one month out of twelve. This is every month. But September gives us a chance to say it louder — and to invite this whole community into the conversation.

This month we'll be sharing resources, stories, tools, and truths. Some of it will be hard to read. All of it comes from a place of deep care for this valley and the people in it.

If you've been waiting for a sign to reach out, to check in on someone, or to finally say the thing you've been carrying — this is it. September is that sign.

In the Elk Valley, this day is personal. We've all felt the weight of these losses — in our families, our crews, our circles. Today we hold that grief together, and we recommit to doing everything we can to prevent more.

If you're grieving someone lost to overdose: your grief is valid. Their life mattered. If you're struggling yourself: you deserve support, not judgment.

Today is National Grief Awareness Day. 💛

In a community like ours, grief isn't abstract. We've lost people. Friends, coworkers, neighbours, family. People who knew every trail, every shift, every corner of this valley.

Grief doesn't have a timeline. It doesn't follow stages in order. And it doesn't get smaller — we just slowly grow larger around it.

If you're carrying loss today, you don't have to pretend otherwise. Grief is love with nowhere to go. Let it exist.

Back to school means new schedules, new pressures, and new social dynamics. For some kids, it's exciting. For others, it's genuinely terrifying. 🎒

As a parent or caregiver, you don't need to have all the answers. But you can keep the door open.

Try asking: "What are you most nervous about this year?" instead of "Are you excited?"

Let them be honest. Let there be silence. Let them know you're not going anywhere.
