Gifford Park Association The Gifford Park Association (GPA) is a grassroots neighborhood organization that serves neighbors living in the Historic District of Elgin, Illinois.

Elgin is city 44 mi. NW of Chicago. GPA’s Purpose is to:

Preserve the integrity of the Elgin Historic District –which includes the City of Elgin's first neighborhood and its oldest public park. Undertake educational efforts to enhance appreciation and develop pride in the architectural and design heritage of the City of Elgin. Provide public educational tours, workshops, materials and technical assistance on preservation and design and to assist other not-for-profit community agencies in their building restoration efforts, utilizing our members and volunteers from the community. Engage in projects involving preservation and beautification that enhance the visual appearance and heritage of the neighborhoods and the City of Elgin and help build Elgin's spirit of community. Support programs that serve children and youth and that contribute to the well-being of the City and its neighborhoods. Encourage and support through contributed expertise and volunteer time to:
- Quality community planning including the development of appropriate plans and codes and their implementation and;
- Public capital and beautification projects to enhance the neighborhoods and the City of Elgin. Showcase Elgin’s neighborhoods and the City of Elgin to its citizens and others within the Chicago region, the State of Illinois and Midwest through programs, projects, and educational outreach.

Heads up, neighbors! The East Side Neighborhood Garden is hosting a free open-air concert this Sunday in the Elgin Historic District. Bring your own chair or blanket and come enjoy some live music with your neighbors!

Wooden Ships will be performing at 111 N Channing St on Sunday, October 11 from 2 to 4 PM.

🎶 WOODEN SHIPS returns to the East Side Neighborhood Garden! 🌻

Join us Sunday, October 11 from 2–4 PM for an afternoon of live music in the garden with Dave Knoerr and WOODEN SHIPS.

Joining the revival are AJ (Alfred Uzzardo), Dean Robert Stanley — the man with three first names — Jimmy “The Beat” Slinko, and the always lovely Laurie B.

Plus special appearances from HairBomb Edison Park’s Aaron Mejia, Gregg Hakalmazian of Goofy Pony, and returning to the Garden once again, Chicago bad axe Mo-Joe Pistone!

And yes… come early enough and you may catch the always-famous Bob Dylan SOUNDCHECK.

As part of our ongoing plan to beautify the Elgin Historic District, a "Jane" Magnolia tree was planted Wednesday, Sept. 30th, at the ROPE officer house at 326 E. Chicago St. Thank you to all who helped: Officer Payne, Alex Oleksiuk, Beth Cywin, Hans Klemmer, Dan and Pat Miller, and Paul Bednar.

A GPA grant is available to private property owners who purchase and plant a "Jane" Magnolia in visible street yard locations. One-half of the purchase price, up to $50 is available. Public plantings are ongoing and 100% funded by GPA.
