Tusker #1 - MAHASEN. Mahasen is a legendary 55-year-old wild male Asian elephant living in Sri Lanka, with the largest and thickest pair of ivory tusks among currently living wild elephants in Sri Lanka. Often found in the Somawathiya region in northern Sri Lanka, this majestic super tusker is recognized by his distinctive crossed tusks. Due to his age and status, he is considered a significant national symbol of pride. 🥰

Malawi’s Department of National Parks and Wildlife) translocated 263 elephants from overpopulated Liwonde National Park in the south to Kasungu National Park in central Malawi (near the Zambia border). NOT JUST A UNIVERSITY… A LIFELINE FOR WILDLIFE 🐾 INDIA LAUNCHES FIRST WILDLIFE & VETERINARY UNIVERSITY 🎓

In a groundbreaking step for conservation, Vantara has announced the launch of a global university dedicated entirely to wildlife and veterinary sciences in Jamnagar.

Led by Anant Ambani, this institution is being described as the world’s first integrated university focused on animal welfare, conservation, and advanced veterinary care.

✅ What makes it special?

• Combines real-world conservation work with academic learning
• Courses in wildlife medicine, genetics, behaviour, nutrition & more
• Focus on One Health, ecosystem balance & global conservation
• Scholarships for students from diverse backgrounds
• Built on India’s traditional knowledge + modern science

This university aims to train future wildlife protectors, veterinarians, and conservation leaders — turning compassion into action. 🌱🐘

💬 At a time when wildlife faces unprecedented threats, this initiative could position India as a global hub for conservation education and research.

🌿 A powerful reminder:
Saving wildlife isn’t just about protecting animals — it’s about building knowledge, systems, and people who can safeguard the future of our planet.

It is essential that future generations recognize the importance of nature and its existence. We need to cultivate a new generation of protectors. As educators, it is our duty to inform and inspire the young generation. Our organization plans to educate children across Sri Lanka. Our inaugural programs in Polonnaruwa district were met with overwhelming success. The level of interest shown by children was truly remarkable. We will continue to implement our program across Sri Lanka, with regular sessions conducted once or twice a month in different areas. We encourage you to participate and help us to continue this program. This is our responsibility. 🙏
