Chúng Ta Cùng Nhau Vietnamese-Edmonton Cultural Society is proud to announce that Where We Came From (and where we go from here): A Vietnamese Art & Heritage Exhibit has been shortlisted for the Canada's History's Governor General’s History Award for Excellence in Community Programming.

Award judges included our group’s May 2026 exhibition among shortlisted projects across Canada that “represent remarkable and inspiring initiatives that encourage public engagement in Canadian history.”

We are so honoured to receive this recognition, especially in our very first year organizing Vietnamese events and cultural initiatives. It’s an important signal that the work we’re doing in the community matters. We’re also thrilled to be shortlisted alongside two other Edmonton community initiatives including the Council of Canadians of African and Caribbean Heritage's AfroQuiz and AfroCademy, as well as the Philippine Arts Council of Alberta's Echos of Identity: Tracking Filipino Cultural Landscapes in Edmonton, in addition to recognition alongside another Vietnamese (and southeast Asian refugee) project from Montreal-based Collectif Super Boat People (Plus que des bons réfugiés ! 50 ans de présence cambodgienne, laotienne et vietnamienne à Montréal).

Introducing the Inaugural Vietnamese Elder & Cultural Heritage Advisor presented by Chúng Ta Cùng Nhau Vietnamese-Edmonton Cultural Society!

Dr. Hoàng Đình Trí has been selected by Chúng Ta Cùng Nhau Vietnamese-Edmonton Cultural Society, as the first Vietnamese Elder and Cultural Heritage Advisor.

The announcement was made on Sept. 1, 2026, at the Vietnamese Heritage Month Kick-off Event in Edmonton.

This two-year role recognizes an Elder whose contributions have helped shape and strengthen the local Vietnamese community and provides opportunities to share cultural knowledge across generations while supporting community heritage initiatives for current and future generations.

Bac Tri’s contributions to the Vietnamese community in Edmonton are significant. His volunteerism has shaped the Vietnamese community in Edmonton.

Kick-off to Vietnamese Heritage Month
September 1, 2026!

Here are a few phone photos from the first-ever Vietnamese Heritage Month Celebration in the City of Edmonton!

Chúng Ta Cùng Nhau Vietnamese-Edmonton Cultural Society would like to thank the many community members, dignitaries, speakers, partners, artists, businesses, volunteers and everyone involved in helping us signify and celebrate Vietnamese heritage in the city.

On Sept. 1, 2026 we kicked off Vietnamese Heritage Month in the City of Edmonton! Thank you so much to everyone who filled the room, and to the many dignitaries who spoke as part of the program, including Edmonton Mayor Andrew Knack. Alongside Thu Parmar, the city's first Vietnamese Councillor, it was proclaimed Vietnamese Heritage Month at the municipal level, after the Government of Alberta first designated the month as Vietnamese Heritage Month back in 2024.

We will be sharing more photos, videos, thank yous, and updates from the Kick-off event and don't forget, there are many more events + ways to participate in Vietnamese Heritage Month from nearly 20 local businesses, organizations, artists and individuals this September.

Servus Edmonton Marathon 2026
Chúng Ta Cùng Nhau Booth!

Wow!!!! What a wonderful day supporting runners at the 35th Edmonton Marathon!!

Chúng Ta Cùng Nhau Vietnamese-Edmonton Cultural Society was proud to present the very first Vietnamese Vinahouse & Top 40 Entertainment Booth with our DJ partner BSMT DJ Tina!

We also offered free, cold Jasmine green tea from our Vietnamese drink partner Banh Mi Diddy, supported by Rachel Fung & Associates including Ken Su Real Estate.

More than 10,000 people were registered for the race that included a full marathon, half marathon, 10K, 5K and 1K fun run! For many, it was their first time hearing Vinahouse as they ran by our entertainment & tea station on Jasper Avenue and 112 Street.

Our Board Member & Treasurer Stewart Hong ran the half marathon then helped cheer on runners at our booth after his race. Woo!

Thank you to the Vibe Collective and YELRIHS for organizing the entertainment booths and inviting us to participate. Thank you to the Edmonton Marathon for organizing an amazing event!
