Today, we recognize World Schizophrenia and Psychosis Awareness Day — a time to raise awareness, challenge stigma, and show support for those living with schizophrenia and their loved ones.

Schizophrenia affects approximately 1 in 100 people, yet misconceptions persist. It’s time to replace fear with understanding and judgment with compassion.

At CMHA Edmonton, we stand with individuals navigating this complex mental health condition and advocate for accessible, person-centered care and community support.

Together, let’s break the stigma and build a more inclusive, supportive world.

Last week, our community truly came together for Mental Health Week 💚

We’re feeling so grateful for everyone who joined events, shared conversations, checked in with each other, and helped bring CMHA’s “Come Together” theme to life. Seeing so many people show up for community mental health in big and small ways meant so much to us.

Mental health touches all of us, and this week reminded us how important connection really is. A simple conversation, spending time together, or letting someone know they’re not alone can make a real difference.

Thank you for being part of a community that cares so deeply for one another. We’re so lucky to be alongside all of you as we continue creating spaces where people feel connected, supported, and welcome 💚

Last week's events & initiatives:

- Mental health resource pop-up booth around the city
- Two Community Conversations events hosted by Fifendekel
- Panel discussion on the intersection of Autism and mental health with Autism Edmonton

As we get closer to the end of Mental Health Week, we are feeling especially grateful for this community.

Everything we do is possible because of your support, your care, and your belief in the importance of mental health.

Because of your donations, more people can access support, more conversations are happening, and more folks are reminded that they are not alone.

Our community is stronger, more connected, and more compassionate because you are part of it.

Thank you for continuing to show up and stand with us. It truly makes a difference!

When people experience social isolation or can't connect with others in ways that feel satisfying or that meet their needs, they can experience loneliness and possibly mental health and physical health problems.

The inverse is also true; mental health problems can lead to isolation and loneliness, particularly when people aren't receiving the right health and social supports.

What are some ways that you connect with the people in your life? Are you able to reach out to them when you notice that you're feeling lonely?

This Mental Health Week, let's Come Together, Edmonton!

We live in an age of constant connection. We can call, text, and share our lives instantly with people all around the world at any time. But as we spend more time online, we’re asking what does it mean for our mental health?

This week let’s move beyond screens and toward each other. Because when we come together, we build stronger connections and stronger mental health for everyone.
