The Edmonton Warriors opened their participation in the 2026 Canada Soccer U15 National Championships with an emphatic ๐Ÿ”โ€“๐Ÿ ๐ฏ๐ข๐œ๐ญ๐จ๐ซ๐ฒ over St. Johnโ€™s Soccer Club in Surrey, British Columbia.

The Warriors, coached by the experienced Nikola Vignjevic, scored early against a valiant Newfoundland squad that was dogged in its defending throughout the first half.

Standout striker Kristijan Brkic opened the scoring with an early goal and finished the match with four goals. Attacking midfielder Josh Eveillard was sensational, earning the ๐Œ๐š๐ง ๐จ๐Ÿ ๐ญ๐ก๐ž ๐Œ๐š๐ญ๐œ๐ก award for his instrumental role in creating opportunities. Eveillard provided the assists on all four of Brkicโ€™s goals.

A dominant attacking display to start the tournament has put the Warriors at the top of Group D after one match. The players will now turn their attention to their next match against PEI FC of Charlottetown on Friday, October 10, as they look to conclude the group stage of the competition on a strong note.

The Southwest United Soccer Club Edmonton U17 Girls also earned a hard-fought win over Winnipeg AK SA in penalties, after drawing 0-0 in regulation time.
