🎬 New opportunity for Indigenous screenwriters!

The Indigenous Screen Office (ISO) and Paramount have launched the ISO x Paramount Rewrite Lab, a new professional development program supporting Indigenous writers through advanced script development, mentorship, story editing, and peer learning.

The program will support four writers as they strengthen their projects and prepare their stories for production and financing opportunities.

Applications open in July.

🎬 CBC is expanding support for documentary storytelling!

As part of its $7M investment in documentary programming, CBC has launched two new funds:
▪️ Creator Catalyst Fund — supporting emerging unscripted producers through the CBC Creator Network
▪️ Co-Production Fund — supporting international documentary partnerships for The Passionate Eye

CBC also announced that its new FAST channel, CBC Docs, will launch September 1, 2026, on CBC Gem and YouTube.

🎬Telefilm Canada has announced major changes to its Development Program.

Key updates include:
▪️ Expansion of the automatic Prequalified Stream
▪️ A new points-based selection system
▪️ More companies eligible for funding
▪️ Springboard and Animation initiatives made permanent
▪️ Plans to phase out the General Stream by 2027–28

The changes are part of Telefilm’s ongoing program review aimed at improving predictability and supporting project development.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for Alberta Beyond Limits: Meet, Mingle, and Moving Forward, co-sponsored by AMPIA. The event brought together screen industry leaders for an engaging discussion on the future of Alberta’s film and television sector, featuring Mark Ham, Dylan Pearce, Brad Perry, and Dorian Rowe, moderated by Luke Azevedo.
