�Hope Lives Here Animal Rescue Society (HLH) is a non-profit animal rescue founded in 2012. We are committed to rescuing stray, abandoned, and unwanted dogs and cats from Alberta urban and rural areas, including First Nations surrounding Edmonton and Red

Deer, to then place them in permanent homes. HLH created a spay/neuter initiative program within the communities we work with to help curb the overpopulation of unwanted dogs and cats. Our organization works with field volunteers in several rural communities across Alberta to rescue dogs and cats in need. Unfortunately, for every dog we save, there are at-least 10 more requiring immediate rescue, and in the case of cats, at least 30 more requiring rescue - without foster space we cannot rescue them. Hope Lives Here Animal Rescue Society received their Certificate of Incorporation on November 30, 2012 and became recognized as a Registered Charity. We do our best to keep our operating costs low, allowing us to assist more animals. Hope Lives Here Animal Rescue Society relies entirely on the generosity, skills, and compassion of a volunteer network in order to: �
Provide foster care, socialization, and basic training to prepare the foster animal for adoption
�Administer medical assistance to the foster animal
�Coordinate the adoption of the foster animal through a matching process of the animal’s needs to lifestyles and personalities of the adopters
Respond to calls for animals in need by traveling to urban and rural locations to perform rescues
�Provide food to field volunteers for the animals who cannot yet be rescued
�Prepare and delivery outreach programs and initiatives that promote responsible pet ownership
Raise funds to support HLH activities; and �
Build awareness about Hope Lives Here Animal Rescue Society and our cause. �

Hope Lives Here Animal Rescue Society does not operate out of a facility; instead, we rely on a network of foster homes who open their homes and hearts to rescued animals until a permanent home is found. Supplies such as leashes, collars, toys, dishes, food, litter, treats, and kennels are provided to our foster homes. A loving, safe and lifelong home is the goal in Hope Lives Here Animal Rescue Society's rehoming efforts; therefore, a multi-step adoption process is followed to ensure the best match possible between the needs of the animal and the lifestyle of the potential adopters. Many of HLH adoptable animals have been rescued from harsh situation; therefore, they are adopted out as companion animals to be loved and protected for the rest of their lives. The time we take in processing adoptions and careful vetting of each potential adoptive home is a core philosophy of our organization.

Meet Millie! 💕
Millie may be little, but she has a BIG personality! She is an incredibly smart, affectionate and easy-going puppy who is already showing just how special she is.
At approximately 12 weeks old, Millie has already learned to potty outside very quickly and absolutely loves a routine. In fact, she has her schedule down so well that she makes sure her humans stick to it! 😂 She eats, sleeps and goes outside at the same times every day.
Millie is crate trained and enjoys having her crate open during the day so she can wander in for a cozy nap. She is also doing wonderfully when left home alone and can now be trusted outside of her crate. She’ll happily nap on the couch, chew a bone or play with her sister, Star, until her people return.
This sweet girl is extremely affectionate and loves nothing more than cuddling up with her person for a nap. She is a true little shadow and will happily follow her person from room to room to make sure she doesn't miss a thing. ❤️
Millie is gentle and low energy, but she absolutely loves playing and wrestling with her doggy friends. She is wonderful with kids and is young enough to learn to live happily with cats with proper introductions and guidance.
She also loves car rides and the water, has a good trusted off-leash recall, and already knows sit and lay down on command.
Millie is truly a very easy puppy—smart, well behaved, loving and eager to please. She has a bit of a sensitive tummy lately, so keeping her food and treats consistent seems to work best for her.

We’re looking for volunteers to join us at KMS Tools Red Deer on September 17 & 18 and help us continue one of Hope Lives Here’s most important fundraising partnerships.

🐾 Chatting with customers and sharing a little about Hope Lives Here Animal Rescue

No experience is needed. Training and instructions will be provided, and everything will be explained when you arrive.

KMS Tools is one of our biggest supporters, and this partnership brings in much-needed funds that help us continue caring for animals in need. We are really struggling to fill these Red Deer shifts, and having volunteers there is incredibly important to keeping this partnership going. ❤️

🐾 Casper needs some really good snacks.

He’s still very scared and anxious, and right now he’s too spicy to safely get into a crate for a vet visit.

His anxiety medication is helping — and we’re already seeing little wins. Casper is now taking treats right from his foster’s hand. ❤️

The challenge? We need really tasty food to hide his medication in so we can keep making progress and eventually get him safely to the vet.

I’m a rambunctious big little guy who is always ready for fun! I love to play, explore, and be right under your feet—because wherever you are, that’s where I want to be! 🥰

I’m doing really well with my house training. I go outside most of the time, although I still have the occasional accident—but I’m getting better every day!
I’m also working hard on my crate training. I sleep through the entire night in my crate like a champ! During the day, though, I sometimes like to howl a little just to make sure everyone knows I’m still here. 😂
I’m also learning how to walk nicely on a leash, and with some patience, consistency, and lots of encouragement, I know I’ll get there!

These two sweet boys survived Alberta’s harsh winter outdoors before being rescued, and their bond has only grown stronger since coming inside.

Chance is a total cuddle bug who loves nothing more than curling up with his people. Despite suffering frostbite on his paws and ear, he has healed beautifully and has so much love to give. 🥰

Ash is a gentle, sensitive soul who needs a little extra patience to feel comfortable around people. But when Chance is by his side, Ash becomes braver, calmer, and more confident. ❤️

They sleep together, groom each other, play together, and are rarely apart. Chance gives Ash confidence, and Ash gives Chance comfort.

Mikey is an 11-month-old foster with Hope Lives Here Animal Rescue who is looking for his perfect forever home to adopt him!
Like many dogs his age, Mikey is currently in that lovable, slightly bratty teenage stage where life is one big adventure and every day is meant for fun. Despite his youthful enthusiasm, he's an all-around happy, well-rounded boy who wins over everyone he meets.
Mikey absolutely loves people and gets along great with other dogs. Whether he's making new friends at the park, playing with his canine buddies, or soaking up attention from his humans, Mikey is always ready for a good time. He has plenty of playful energy but is just as happy curling up on the couch beside you after a busy day.
