Another season of sea lice monitoring underway! At Salmon Coast, we’ve been monitoring sea lice on juvenile salmon weekly throughout the out-migration season at three sites in the Broughton Archipelago since 2001. Always grateful for a bit of sunshine on the water during field days 🌤️🌊

Welcoming another friendly face back to the coast, our Research Crew Lead, Kate! 🌊

Kate grew up exploring the shores of səlilwət (Burrard Inlet), a curiosity that led her to an MSc in marine ecology at the University of Toronto under the supervision of Salmon Coast board members Dr. Martin Krkošek and Dr. Sean Godwin. She’s been part of the Salmon Coast alumni community since 2021, and we’re so excited to have her back this season leading our diverse research projects!
