A letter from our Museum Program Assistant Charlie to our community:
Dear Friends of the Museum,
I’m often one of the first people to welcome visitors through the doors of the Dundas Museum & Archives. My journey here began as a volunteer, then a camp counsellor, and now as a part-time Museum Attendant while I complete my university studies.
Along the way, I’ve seen just how much this place matters. From school groups discovering artifacts for the first time to visitors reconnecting with the stories that shaped Dundas, the Museum offers a space that is welcoming, accessible, and deeply rooted in community.
This year, we’re proud to celebrate our 70th anniversary, a milestone made possible by people like you. In our early days, welcoming even a small number of visitors felt ambitious. Today, the Museum has grown into a vibrant hub for learning, reflection, and connection.
Our current 70th Anniversary Exhibition reflects that journey. It features nearly 100 items selected by community members, each paired with a personal story. It’s a powerful reminder that the Dundas Museum exists because of the people who care about it, and continue to shape it. People like you!
Every day, I see the impact. A child lights up realizing history includes people like them. Families spend time learning and laughing together. Visitors find a moment to slow down, reflect, and connect with history and with each other.
These moments don’t happen by accident. They are sustained by the generosity of our community.
As we celebrate 70 years, I invite you to make a gift to help carry this work forward. Can you make a donation today to the Dundas Museum? You will help provide free access for visitors, inspiring exhibitions, and educational programs that reach thousands of community members each year.
Because of the generosity from donors like you, our doors remain open to all, always. And with your continued support, they will stay open for generations to come. Thank you for being part of our story!
