The 2026/27 year starts off with membership registration and our annual CRITIQUE NIGHT with Bart Gazzola on September 22, at Trillium United Church, 415 Linwell Rd. Please remember to bring one of your paintings for the critique. Meeting starts at 7 p.m.

SCAA Artist of the Week is Susan Little, a graduate of OCAD's 4 year Illustration and Design program. Her previous careers include art direction, graphic design, and illustration. Susan applies the power and dynamics of graphic design and illustration techniques to her fine art painting compositions. She is especially attracted to the vividness and intensity achieved when using acrylic paints.

Susan also teaches painting workshops in watercolours and acrylics to local art groups in the Niagara Region.

SCAA Artist of the week is Megan Arndt. Megan's painting practice is rooted in intuition and process. While her work often begins with a clear idea, the final result rarely unfolds as planned. She builds her paintings in layers, allowing each stage to guide the next. Moments of change, uncertainty, and disruption are all part of the process, and through patience and trust, new and unexpected outcomes emerge. In many ways, art is like life that way, unpredictable, imperfect, and never really finished.

SCAA Teen Art Workshop today on Tropical Fish Painting by Susan Little was a success!

St. Catharines Art Association is delighted to partner with the St. Catharines Public Library (SCPL) for a second consecutive year to present four Teen Art Series Workshops during July 2026.

This week's Artist of the Week is SCAA President, Dr. Chandi Jayawardena, DPhil. Chandi, is a visual artist whose practice reflects a lifelong global journey in over 100 countries. He studied visual arts in Sri Lanka, Guyana, Jamaica, and Canada, and is currently continuing his studio art studies at Brock University. Since his first solo exhibition in 1994, Chandi has presented his work in 18 solo and 43 group exhibitions internationally. His paintings are held in public and private collections in Asia, the Caribbean, North America and South America with a major work currently displayed at the Legislative Assembly of Ontario. He is actively engaged in arts leadership in Niagara Region.

SCAA Teen Art Workshop today on Floral Painting by Dr. Debra Attenborough was a success!

St. Catharines Art Association is delighted to partner with the St. Catharines Public Library (SCPL) for a second consecutive year to present four Teen Art Series Workshops.

The last SCAA free workshop will be held at SCPL, 54 Church Street, St. Catharines on next Wednesday from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
July 29th: Tropical Fish Painting - Susan Little. If you have children or grandchildren aged 13–17 who enjoy art or would like to explore painting, we encourage you to register them online on SCPL website.

Thanks to our partner, SCPL, all workshops, canvases, art supplies, and materials are provided FREE of charge.
