【Community Partner｜Calgary Stampede × ECHO Calgary 🤠】

From Hong Kong to Alberta — and falling in love with the West.🤠

Meet Sharon.

Sharon came to Alberta from Hong Kong through the Hong Kong Lifeboat Scheme. Like many newcomers, she arrived in a new place and began discovering what would eventually become her new home.

But Sharon didn’t just discover Alberta. She FELL IN LOVE with the Western culture.

She started going beyond the Calgary Stampede, travelling to Ponoka, Strathmore and other Western events. And she didn’t want to experience them simply as an audience.

She put her boots on the ground.

From working the gates to moving barrels and volunteering behind the scenes, Sharon immersed herself in the Western lifestyle. Along the way, she started sharing her journey through her social media page, Sharon🌾🐴⭐️, becoming an ambassador for Western culture within newcomer communities.

And now, she’s bringing that passion to Calgary Hong Kong Culture Day.
This year, Sharon took the lead in creating our Western Corner in partnership with the Calgary Stampede, to introduce newcomers and the wider Calgary community to Alberta’s Western heritage — in her own way.

Because Culture Day isn't just about bringing Hong Kong culture to Alberta.
It’s also about newcomers discovering the culture of the place they now call home.

You can be proud of where you came from, while embracing something new. You can carry your heritage with you, while becoming part of Alberta’s story.

【社區夥伴｜Calgary Stampede × ECHO Calgary 🤠】

今日想同大家介紹一下 Sharon。

Sharon透過HONG KONG LIFEBOAT SCHEME嚟到Alberta，佢慢慢開始認識到呢個完全陌生嘅地方將會成為佢新嘅屋企。

但係Sharon唔單止「認識」Alberta，更真正愛上咗呢度嘅西部文化。

除咗 Calgary Stampede 之外，佢仲會去Strathmore、Airdrie、Nanton等唔同地方嘅西部events。

最特別嘅係，佢唔係淨係坐喺觀眾席睇，而係真真正正落場做。

由開閂閘，、搬barrels，到處理livestock，Sharon真係一步一步喺幕後融入呢個西部community。

慢慢地，佢亦透過自己嘅social media page Sharon🌾🐴⭐️ 分享自己嘅經歷，希望可以將自己對西部文化嘅熱情帶俾更多新移民。

今年，佢將呢份熱情帶到Calgary Hong Kong Culture Day！佢將會聯同Calgary Stampede 主持我地嘅Western Corner，利用自己嘅方式帶大家認識Alberta獨有嘅西部文化。

我地深信Culture Day唔只係將香港文化傳播俾Alberta。呢一日同樣都係俾我地呢班新移民有機會認識、體驗同融入我地而家叫做屋企嘅地方。

你可以對自己嘅出身地感到自豪，同時愛上另一種文化。

9月12號，嚟 Calgary Hong Kong Culture Day，戴返頂 Cowboy Hat，落嚟 Western Corner，同 Sharon 見下面啦！🤠🐎
