We are very happy to announce that we have added a new Can-Am Outlander 6x6 to our fleet! We set out with a goal to upgrade our ATV unit in Dorset to specifically meet the needs of our community and be able to provide safe and reliable response!
This purchase was only made possible through the support our association receives from the Dorset community. This machine was purchased entirely through donations! We would like to give a special thank you to the Dorset Lions Club, Haliburton ATV Association, Kawagama Lake Cottagers Association, and the Otter Lake Cottagers Association for their very generous support. On top of this we would not be able to do this without the support of you coming to our events such as the Dorset Poker Run and showing your support! Thank you all!
A special thank you goes to Harper Powersports and Marine for finding this specific machine and getting it ready for us. Also we would like to thank the Township of Algonquin Highlands for the opportunity to put on this fundraiser and acquire this machine for our community!

For years, the Dorset Poker Run had been a winter staple event, bringing together local organizations, businesses and community members to participate in a fun ride on our spectacular trails, prizes, food and fellowship.
It has previously raised thousands of dollars for the Tall Pines Snowmobile Club and other community organizations but was placed on hold in 2018. In 2024 Dorset Poker Run was resurrected and was once again a huge success bringing together 150 riders, a sold out event. The 2025 event was also sold out with 250 riders participating.
The Tall Pines Snowmobile Club and the Dorset Volunteer Firefighters Association have partnered once again for 2026 Dorset Poker Run.
On Feb 07th, 2026, 250 riders will hit the trails to complete the checkpoints and return back to Lions Camp Dorset to draw their poker hands, eat and enjoy fellow rider camaraderie .
Registration for riders is now open.

It's a simple fact that working smoke detectors save lives. Smoke alarms should be tested at least once a month to ensure they're in good working order.

Earlier this summer the Dorset Volunteer Firefighters Association accepted a generous donation from the Dorset Lions Club in support of our fundraiser to obtain a new 6x6 ATV to support the Dorset community!

The Dorset Volunteer Firefighters Association has started a fundraiser to upgrade our station’s ability to respond to emergencies out on trails and remote locations and we need your help!

In an effort to improve our response capabilities it has been determined that a 6x6 ATV would be suit the needs of our community. This machine can also be equipped with tracks to respond to emergencies in the winter including to snowmobile accidents. This equipment allows us to carry all medical equipment and other equipment required while transporting our firefighters safely and reliably to the scene.
