Reading of fallen soldiers at the Dieppe Raid

Organized by the Moncton France-Canada Association and in collaboration with the Dieppe Military Veterans Association and the City of Dieppe, this commemorative event involves reading the names of those who fell during the Dieppe Raid (922), which took place on August 19, 1942.

For more than a decade, the France-Canada Association coordinated the reading of the names and invited the public to join in this important moment of reflection to honour the memory of the service members who lost their lives during the Dieppe Raid. In keeping with tradition, the Roll Call took place on Saturday, August 16, at 6:00 p.m.—the evening of the August 17 commemorative before the Dieppe Raid ceremony—in front of the monument. This commemorative event involved reading the names of those who fell during the Dieppe Raid, which took place on August 19, 1942.

We invited the public to join in this important moment of reflection to honour the memory of the service members who lost their lives during the Dieppe Raid. Thank you to all that have participated to the reading.

Organisé par l'Association France-Canada de Moncton et en collaboration avec l'Association des vétérans militaires de Dieppe et la Ville de Dieppe, cet événement commémoratif consiste à lire les noms de ceux qui sont tombés lors du raid de Dieppe (922), qui a eu lieu le 19 août 1943.

Depuis plus d'une décénie, l'Association France-Canada coordonne la lecture des noms et a invité le public à se joindre à ce moment important de réflexion pour honorer la mémoire des militaires qui ont perdu la vie lors du raid de Dieppe. Comme le veut la tradition, l'appel nominal a eue lieu samedi le 16 août à 6:00 p.m.—soit la veille de la cérémonie commémorative du 17 août, avant le raid de Dieppe et devant le monument. Cet événement commémoratif consiste à lire les noms de ceux qui sont tombés lors du raid de Dieppe, qui a eu lieu le 19 août 1942.

Nous avons invité le public à participer à ce moment important de réflexion pour honorer la mémoire des militaires qui ont perdu leur vie lors du raid de Dieppe. Merci à tous qui ont participé à la lecture.

At our monthly General Meeting and part of our Speaker's Corner, we had a visitor from the Codiac Regional RCMP Community Policing Unit , Cst Kathleen Samamé-Quintana. She spoke about fraud, scams and tips in the prevention and reporting of fraud and/or scams. It brought about a lot of questions and discussions. The President thanked Cst Samamé-Quintana and presented with her one of our Association Coin in appreciation. Thank you.

Dear DMVA members and friends,

We are pleased to share that four dedicated volunteers from our Association recently visited the Veterans Centre on behalf of our membership.

During this visit, we spent time with the residents, shared conversations, and conveyed our Association’s continued appreciation and support for those who have served our country. In total, 40 veterans are permanent residents to the Health Center of which some of them (7) are centenarians.

These moments of connection are deeply meaningful and reflect the values of respect, remembrance, and service that our Association proudly upholds. We offered small treats to the veterans of which they really appreciated. Some of them do not have visitors and are looking forward for our visits.

We extend our sincere thanks to the four volunteers who represented us so well. Their commitment and generosity of time made this visit both rewarding and memorable for the veterans they met.

Visits such as these remind us of the importance of staying connected with our veteran community. We look forward to organizing additional visits in the future and encourage our association’s members, who may be interested in volunteering, to stay tuned for upcoming opportunities.
