Not many photos from this morning’s group at Hwy 15 - Indigenous Food Sovereignty Garden. We smudged, offered asemaa to the land, watered plants, read books and sang songs in Anishinaabemowin (Ojibwe) and Kanyen’kehá (Mohawk). We helped to harvest lettuce and strawberries, played in the sandbox, matched birds, painted our own birds, and some of us even braided sweetgrass. Mino-giizhigad - it’s a good day ☀️

A few drops of rain didn’t stop us from exploring Elbow Lake with Maggie from Rural Frontenac Community Services this morning! We played on the climber and then went off in search of Amik 🦫and Mishiikenh 🐢who were hidden along the trail. We read the beautiful signs set up, practiced saying words in Anishinaabemowin and listened to a short version of Sky Woman & Turtle Island story. We saw a beaver lodge and two turtles! We stopped for snacks and sang songs in Ojibwe before making our way back, walking by the water. Mino-giizhigad - it’s a good day!

Our next walk with EarlyON Frontenac will be on Monday, June 29th at Gould Lake. We’ll have a short hike followed by playtime at the beach! Please register at www.keyon.ca (Outdoor Programs- Frontenac)

What a fun morning we had exploring Lemoine Point with Erin from EarlyON KCHC! We smudged, said hello to Agongos 🐿️, left seeds for birds (and squirrels), we heard birds singing and noticed pretty flowers and other treasures along the trail. We sang songs in Ojibwe, stopped to watch the ducks & geese and their babies by the water. We read the book, “Hello, Sun” and found animals hidden on the pages. Mino-giizhigad - it’s a good day 🌞
