🚗🔥 Vehicle Fire Safety Reminder

If your vehicle ever catches fire, do not pull onto dry grass, brush, or the shoulder where vegetation is present. A burning vehicle can quickly ignite surrounding fuels and start a wildfire in seconds.

If it is safe to do so:
✅ Pull over on pavement or a gravel area away from vegetation.
✅ Turn off the engine.
✅ Get everyone out of the vehicle immediately.
✅ Move a safe distance away and call 911.

A vehicle can be replaced. People and forests cannot.

Stay alert, stay safe, and help prevent wildfires this season. 🌲🚒

The Comox Valley fire departments will remain having a complete fire ban in place over the May long weekend. Local bylaws allow fire departments to keep bans in place regardless of Coastal Fire Centre’s recommendations.
