Forest fire season is now in effect on the Island of Newfoundland until September 30, 2026.

Restrictions on outdoor burning and certain activities are in place to reduce the risk of wildfires to protect people, property, and natural resources. More info: https://www.gov.nl.ca/releases/2026/fal/0501n04/

A permit is required to burn vegetation, brush, wood, paper products or other flammable material during Forest Fire Season. Burn permits are free and available from provincial Forest Management District offices. Find your local office here: https://www.gov.nl.ca/fal/department/contact-forestry/

Always check local municipal bylaws before burning.

Please be careful and keep an eye out on roads that are near ponds and streams🙏Many adult ducks are leaving the ponds to look for nesting areas which are often near ditches longer grass, gravel areas, even planters .
We had already lost 3 to vehicle strikes this week 😞
We Realize it’s not always preventable, but if we slow down and avoid distractions we can certainly reduce the number being hit 🦆🦆🦆

Lace up and let’s go! 🏃 Hit the pavement with us in Bay Roberts on Sunday, May 31, 2026, for the RCMP 5K Charity Fun Run, a celebration of community spirit and healthy fun for all ages.

All proceeds from this race will go directly to our local food bank and The Helping Hand Goodwill Centre, supporting those in our community who need it most.

The run starts and finishes at Wilber Sparks Park. Stay after the race for a complimentary BBQ with family, friends, and RCMP Newfoundland and Labrador! 🌭
