Cloverbuds explore Sheep and Beef.

After discussing some of the more popular and interesting sheep breeds, the cloverbuds took a guess about the breed of sheep at our meeting . The guess was Suffolk and the sheep are Suffolk x Hampshire . The kids had a great time taking turns at trying to “show” the sheep.

We also had the opportunity to interact with a beef x calf and get an understanding of how halter training can be difficult and that it takes dedication to train any 4-H animal. We talked about different breeds of beef cattle as well as some terminology.

A big thankyou to our sheep members for sharing your project with our cloverbuds and to the farm who lent us the calf for a few hours.

Goat husbandry/showmanship workshop with our goat members .

One thing we learned is you goat to practice every day if you want to be successful in the show ring . 🐐

🍀💚Our members did demonstrations and speak and shows as part of the 4-H communications program. We also practiced our judging skill on melba toast.💚🍀So much "Learning to do by doing" for new and nearly new members.🍀💚

🍀💚May in 4-H is judging month. Members attended 2 district judging days. They judged poultry, rabbit, horse, dog, lamb, swine, beef steers, beef heifers, cheese burgers, show/grooming ID class and kitchen utensils ID class.💚 🍀
