It’s been quite over here on social media but SO much is happening behind the scenes. We are shifting everything to a Not For Profit Society that will launch July 1st. There is so much coming and we could not be more excited and exhausted!!

Plant a seed and watch it grow 🌱 Garlic went into a garden box at Evans Elementary this week. We are going to test out the self watering boxes and see what kind of harvest comes in the summer. If we want to change the future we need to give our kids skills to be resilient and to thrive. Touching soil and growing food are some of those skills.

Equipping - this is our expansion focus. How do we increase engagement and teach kids a variety of skills. We have discovered it’s not on a big scale but impacting one by one. When you have a variety of skills you can better navigate life and all the challenges it presents. We want to equip resilient kids today who will be the influential leaders of tomorrow.

This week we did our quarterly baking night to stock the freezer for the TRUCK mobile youth center. We made 510+ cookies and monster energy balls. My favourite part of this night is having some of the families and students come and give back. If we all give a little the impact is significant!

Our 7 programs are all back in full swing at 6 local schools. These first few weeks are full of adjustments and getting to know each other. We’re so excited for another year of impacting our community together. One of the programs had a volunteer leader heading to Africa on an outreach trip. Some of the kids were asked to make postcards and they learned that this piece of paper has HUGE value to a child that has very little. As we move into a not for profit we want to take every opportunity to teach and stretch our students to think about others and learn to spread love in all forms.

In August, We hosted our second GlovesUp Boxing Camp with and it was a huge success. Lots of skills and drills and fun to be had by all. Thank you Sylvain and volunteers, .world athletes, Pastor Dave Kirsch and Midtown Church volunteers, as well as .ca volunteers for all you did to make this another successful year.
