Oh my… what a weekend for our Scouts heading to Scotland! 🇨🇦➡️🏴

Saturday was a full day in Chemainus, with Scouts and families going door to door to pick up, sort, and drop off recyclables. A huge thank you to everyone who donated bottles and to all the volunteers who helped make the bottle drive such a success. Every bag, every bottle, and every helping hand truly made a difference.

Sunday was just as exciting with our Victoria Royals hockey fundraiser — and what a wild time it was! We sold all of our tickets and then had the opportunity to run the 50/50 draw during the game. The final pot came in at an amazing $3,200! Thank you to everyone who purchased tickets, supported the 50/50 raffle, and cheered us on.

And let’s talk about that game! 🏒
The Victoria Royals came out strong and never looked back, keeping the lead throughout the game. The third period was huge, with even more goals, finishing with a final score of 5–1 for the Royals. Way to go!

To everyone who supported our Scouts this weekend, thank you! Your generosity and encouragement are helping our youth get one step closer to the adventure of a lifetime at the 2026 Blair Atholl Jamborette in Scotland. 💙✨

Our Scouts from Chemainus (1st Chemainus) and Metchosin (14th JDF) have teamed up for the adventure of a lifetime: travelling to Scotland for the 2026 Blair Atholl Jamborette! To help make this incredible opportunity a reality, we’re partnering with the Victoria Royals for a fun and exciting fundraiser, and we’d love your support!

🍁🪶 Behind the Design: Our 2026 Jamborette Badge Idea! 🪵🍁

If you’ve noticed our new profile picture, you might be wondering… what’s the story behind that wild and wonderful design?

Here’s the scoop!

As part of attending the 2026 Blair Atholl Jamborette, our Scouts will create a custom necker and badge to represent our Vancouver Island group on the international stage. Since this is a global gathering, we wanted something that proudly shows our Canadian spirit—bold, fun, and unmistakably us.

During our first brainstorming session with the Scouts, one idea quickly became the group favourite:

A Canadian Goose riding a Mighty Beaver… while waving a Canadian flag.
Yes, seriously. And honestly? It’s kind of perfect. Thanks to the magic of AI and a few prompts, our first badge ideas came to life.

This design is not the final version. Far from it! But it’s a fun and creative starting point that captures our Scouts’ energy, imagination, and pride. As we move forward, the design will evolve, but the heart of it will always come from the youth.

🏴✨ What Is the Blair Atholl Jamborette? And Why Are We So Excited? ✨🏴

Vancouver Island's 1st Chemainus & 14th JDF Scouts are beginning their journey toward Blair Atholl Jamborette 2026. We want to share what makes this event such an incredible opportunity for our Scouts. Taking place from July 20th to 31st, 2026.

Every two years, about 500 Scottish Scouts and 500 Scouts from around the world gather at Blair Castle in Scotland for a truly unique camp known as a Jamborette. A once-in-a-lifetime international experience!

Here’s what makes it so special:

🌍 International Friendship
Scottish scouts are paired with patrols from other countries, living and working together for the duration of the camp. Lifelong friendships and global connections are made around the campfire.

🏕️ Adventure & Skills
From local Scottish activities to global Scouting challenges, youth experience a mix of outdoor skills, cultural exchange, and amazing adventures they can’t find anywhere else.

🏰 Scottish Culture
The camp is held on the grounds of a real castle—yes, a castle! Scouts participate in Scottish traditions, explore the local area, and even stay at Scottish Scout halls before and after camp to sightsee while in Scotland.

🔥 Leadership & Growth
It’s a chance for youth to build confidence, independence, teamwork, and resilience. All while representing Canada on an international stage.

For many Scouts, Blair Atholl becomes the highlight of their entire Scouting journey.

We are incredibly excited to help our youth reach their goals, and we look forward to sharing the journey with you. Stay tuned for updates on our preparations, fundraising, and progress!

We’re excited to launch this page as we (Vancouver Island's 1st Chemainus & 14th JDF Scouts) begin our adventure toward Blair Atholl Jamborette 2026!

This will be the place where we share announcements, fundraising events, updates, milestones, photos, and all the fantastic progress our Scouts make on their way to Scotland.
