📢 Tue, March 31, 2026 @ 9am: Annual General Meeting & Speakers at the Farm Centre. Speaker topics to be announced shortly. All members are welcome!

📚 April 28-29, 2026: Regional meeting & training for Treasurers in Dartmouth. Four board members will be attending this meeting and training session - watch for updates from them!

🍦 June 14-20, 2026: National Public Service Week. Board members will be visiting federal offices in Charlottetown to speak with federal employees about the benefits of membership and to share some ice cream treats.

🍔 Tue, July 7, 2026: Annual members BBQ @ 12 noon at the Farm Centre.

📌 Thu, Oct 15, 2026: Member information event. Planning is underway to recruit speakers/facilitators. If you have suggestions, please send them to our email at [email protected] 😊

Hello everyone,

I am principal investigator at the Life Research Institute study on The Wellbeing of Solo Retirees in Canada. The National Association of Federal Retirees is a collaborator in this research. We will be providing a profile of your members who are solo retirees to the NAFR.

We are using crowd sourcing to solicit participation in this research. Therefore, I am contacting all of the local branches of the NAFR to request your assistance to reach out to NAFR Members. Local members might not have picked up that NAFR is supporting this research.

Many members may be more connected to their local branch for information about NAFR activities. Local branches outreach via websites, newsletters, Facebook and other social media may reach members who are getting information from national office promotions.

We are requesting that your local branch inform your members and promote participation in the study.

Please share links with your members, their families, friends, colleagues and acquaintances who might be solo. Because they are solo, they are also difficult to reach to invite to participate.

Please ask your members to share the information and links with organizations in their communities that provide services to seniors and retirees.

Federal Retirees is proud to support a new study exploring the well-being and experiences of solo retirees in Canada.The original Nov. 15 deadline for the study questionnaire has been removed. The research team continues to welcome responses.

Social hour is from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. with a cash bar.

Dinner will be served at 7 p.m. with entertainment to follow from the We 3 Band with Todd Gallant, Ian Hunter and Chris Arsenault.

This event is open for all members and potential members.

There are some gala dinner tickets available for $25 per person. Please call Patricia at (902) 394-1848 or Derwin at (902) 393-1700 to arrange purchase in person or by etransfer.
