Public tips help RCMP stop several impaired drivers this weekend.
Over the weekend of May 29 to 31, 2026, PEI RCMP arrested several impaired drivers from all counties across PEI. Most of these arrests are as a direct result of tips from the public. Approximately a third of all impaired driving arrests in RCMP jurisdiction come directly from tips from the public.
The following incidents were reported by PEI RCMP:
• Anglo Rustico, May 29, 9:34 a.m. Queens District RCMP responded to a single vehicle crash; a 70- year-old man was arrested for impaired driving by alcohol. He provided breath samples 2.75 times the legal limit. He did not suffer serious injuries.
• Souris, May 30, 7:52 p.m. While on patrol in King’s District, RCMP were flagged by a driver about a suspicious vehicle. Police located the vehicle and the driver, a 68-year-old man, was arrested for impaired driving by alcohol.
• Fortune Bridge, May 30, 10:57 p.m. Kings District RCMP responded to a report of a vehicle swerving all over the road. The vehicle was located and a 46 -year-old man was arrested for impaired driving by alcohol. He provided breath samples that were 2.3 times the legal limit.
• Hazelbrook, May 31, 12:26 a.m. Queens District RCMP received a report of a suspicious vehicle. The vehicle was located and a 52-year-old man was arrested for impaired driving by alcohol.
• Miscouche, May 31, 12:58 p.m. Prince District RCMP received several reports of a vehicle driving all over the road. The vehicle was located, a 50-year-old man was arrested, and he provided breath samples that were 2.5 times the legal limit.
“Every impaired driver poses a danger to themselves and others on PEI roads. Adding to this danger, some of these readings are significantly high. Your calls about suspicious drivers makes a difference, if you see a suspected impaired driver call 911,” said Cpl Gavin Moore Media Relations Officer for the PEI RCMP.
