The Cozy Community Coat Closet will open October 20 and will also accept donations.

New and gently-used freshly laundered winter coats and other warm winter gear are welcome.

The Point-In-Time Count starts next week. Here's a bit more about what it is.

What is a Point-In-Time homelessness count?

The PiT count is a coordinated effort to estimate the minimum number of people experiencing homelessness or
housing precarity on a single night. This is a nation-wide project and adds the reality of our city to the count.

This is the first time the count will happen in rural areas of Alberta and helps direct social services and funding toward gaps.

Food is about more than nourishment. It brings us together, connects us to our culture, and helps us carry on traditions from one generation to the next.

This Thanksgiving, we’re grateful for the role food plays in bringing people together and creating a sense of belonging. Wishing everyone a warm and happy Thanksgiving!

Have you spotted our new van around town? 👀

We’re excited to have a new set of wheels helping us get school lunches and after-school snacks where they need to go!

Thanks to a grant from Second Harvest Canada through the School Food Infrastructure Fund, we were able to purchase this van to support local school food programming and help ensure every child has access to a well-balanced diet.

A big thank you to Second Harvest Canada for helping us keep good food moving and making a difference for local kids!

Attention: Camrose Social Support Services

This fall, Camrose & District FCSS, Camrose Helps Foundation, and the Community Development Unit are convening a three-part series to shape how the social service sector works together as one system.

This is not about individual organizations. It is about what can be achieved together at a system level and exploring what becomes possible when we ask the right questions.

The engagement consists of three in-person sessions (Nov. 9, Dec 2 & 14) and one virtual check-in (Nov. 24). Full participation across all 3 in-person sessions is requested.

Camrose is taking part in the national Point-in-Time count for the first time. If you have time to volunteer please register.

Volunteers needed for Point-in-Time (PiT) Count in Camrose from October 20-27

Volunteer teams will attend events and conduct a brief survey with participants about their housing experience. This Count provides an estimate of the minimum number of people experiencing homelessness or housing precarity on a single night.
