Coldwater Canada

Coldwater Canada We deeply desire to see authentic transformation in our staff and participants’ lives.

We craft experiences that harness transformative experiential learning strategies, with the aim of equipping students to become problem solvers, change agents, and leaders that embrace challenge and value teamwork. Whether scouting a set of rapids, helping a Leader of the Day navigate islands, or equipping a group of students to plan a community service project, we empower participants to learn th

rough meaningful guided reflection. We believe that each student is capable of much more than they believe, and we are committed to bringing out the best in people!

In two months our basecamp will be filled with the adventurous spirits of our BEDROCK students! 🎣

BEDROCK is our introductory Coldwater experience for kids ages 9–12. For kids who have never been away from home for a week, this program is a great first step! BEDROCK focuses on developing healthy friendships, a solid faith foundation and new wilderness skills. Participants get to experience the fun of adventure both at our basecamp and in the wilderness!

Earlier this week 9 of our Wilderness Leader Interns and Summer Team members were dropped off in the backcountry to begin our Wilderness Leadership Expedition (WLE)! This group will spend the next 14-days traveling through some incredibly beautiful yet challenging northern wilderness. In a few days we will see them again at resupply when they switch from backpacking to canoeing 🥾🛶☀️

🎉 Congratulations to our Wilderness First Responder course graduates! These 8 leaders just completed 70+ hours (8 days) of training and learning that will equip them to keep our wilderness course students safe this summer.

Special thanks to Jason Kervin, owner of Waterways Outdoors, for teaching multiple Coldwater Canada leaders through the years! Your time, dedication and care are critical parts of ensuring our instructors have a high level of training and confidence🌲

A question we are often asked is, “what if I slow the group down?” 🥾

Our potential participants are sometimes nervous that they will slow down their group’s travel due to their lack of wilderness experience or physical strength. If this is you, you are not alone in these fears!

Every group is different and unique, shaped by each person on the trip and when you come for a wilderness experience with us, your group will need you to come just as you are!

We all have strengths and growth areas and if you look at your areas of improvement as learning opportunities instead of weaknesses, you will experience so much more growth! 🌱

Our trips are not all about getting from point A to point B as fast as possible; we are on a journey – to grow, learn and thrive. This means that what happens along the way is just as important as, or maybe more so than, the final destination.

Our hope is that you courageously join us on a wilderness adventure in anticipation of the good work God will do in your life – despite the fear of ‘slowing the group down.’ ❤️

We are halfway through hosting a Wilderness First Responder course at our summer basecamp! 8 students are receiving a high level of wilderness medical training, engaging in a comprehensive and in-depth look at the standards and skills necessary for providing medical care in a wilderness setting.

While our 2026 Wilderness Leader Interns and some of our Summer Team members participate in this course, the rest of our team is spending time preparing our basecamp for the summer ahead. We look forward to serving you this summer!

REMINDER: Embrace the journey 🏞️

A lesson our students often learn on their wilderness trips is to cherish the journey.

Though epic views and destinations may be the reason we head out on a journey, remember to pay attention to your surroundings and enjoy the views along the way ⛰️
