Since 2019, Coldwater has had a thriving partnership with Act Five, working together to provide formative experiences in the wilderness classroom for their students and residents. Over the past 7 years, we have been on over 15 wilderness trips together ☀️

August is here, and we are excited for our second session of youth wilderness courses! 🗺️

On every trip, students will have the opportunity to build confidence by crushing lengthy and rugged portages, develop friendships through days full of paddling and strengthen trust in God by taking in His magnificent creation.

Since the end of June, we have already had the opportunity to serve over 100 people! ☀️

In addition to sending out ACE (16-18 year olds), CAIRN Boys (12-13 year olds) and GRIDIRON session I (14-15 year olds), we were able to run partner programs with Hidden Acres Mennonite Camp and Retreat Centre, Camp Crossroads, Muskoka Woods and Daystar Native Ministries! We are grateful for the many adventures we have embarked on so far and all of the growth and learning we have seen in student’s lives.

📣 Program Highlight: CAIRN ⛰️

A “cairn” is a pile of rocks purposefully left behind for us to see which way the trail goes. Knowing how to recognize a dependable path and having the courage to take it is one of the biggest challenges for young people. These themes will be explored during this five-day/four-night canoe trip for junior high students who want to step out and explore what a wilderness adventure is all about!

There is still time in your summer to include an adventure with Coldwater – we have spots available on our Wabakimi Expedition, Men’s and Women’s canoe trips, as well as on some of our session II youth wilderness trips 🛶

After every Coldwater trip, students gather and reflect on their wilderness adventure. Participants often share stories, encouragement, personal reflections and hopes going forward ☀️

Through the practice of intentional reflection we often see tremendous growth and change in our students as they learn to ask “what happened, why does it matter, and what’s different in my life because of my experience?” 🌱

The Men’s Trip is an awesome opportunity for guys to step away from the busyness and complexities of life by giving themselves the gift of an adventure.
