On March 31, nine Kiwanians met at Brown Bagging 4 Calgary Kids to help prepare meals for children dealing with food insecurity. BB4CK is a barrier free program, children aren’t turned away, and before we arrived, the organization had made over 4000 sandwiches that day! We were tasked with preparing veggie portions, 4600 was the task. While some of our intended helpers were unable to attend last minute, we managed to prepare 3200 portions in two hours. Some of us will be happy to never see a baby carrot for a long time! But it’s such a worthwhile organization to support. They feed roughly 7800 children everyday throughout nearly 300 schools in the city. What a great way to spend two hours.

Aktion Club raised an amazing $23,131 in support of Friends in Motion for Between Friends. Aktion Club was the top fundraising team and we had 2 of the top 5 fundraisers on our team, including top fundraiser Delaney! An amazing feat!

In total, the event raised $94,450. Congratulations Aktion Club & Between Friends!

Why We're Doing It
Aktion Club is fundraising to give back to the community, support meaningful causes, and build leadership, teamwork, and confidence among its members while making a positive impact through service.

Between Friends (www.betweenfriends.ab.ca) provides quality social, recreation, and development opportunities so that people with disabilities can connect, grow, and belong.

At the heart of Between Friends' mission is the recognition of the immense value of recreation and social opportunities for people with disabilities. These opportunities play a crucial role in enhancing the overall quality of life for individuals with disabilities by addressing various aspects of their well-being.

We had 12 members come out on Wednesday to make nutritious soup for people experiencing food insecurity. We made 62 litres of soup!!!

Kiwanis
Calgary Northmount and friends were at Community Kitchen to assemble boxes. This is the first step where other groups fill the boxes with food that is distributed to other charities to get to those in need.

This donation was to support their "Backpack Project" that aims to provide low-income families with backpacks filled with essential back to school supplies. The average cost ranges from $150 - $300 per student de pending on age. This initiative helps to alleviate the financial burden and ensure that every child is equipped the tools they need to succeed academically!

.CalgaryNorthmount and partnered earlier in the year to volunteer and make 4 types of homemade soup in a commercial kitchen that is then provided to those in need. (Social agencies, street kids, families in need) to help battle in

THAT NIGHT WE:
Produced 85 litres of great homemade soup
Enjoyed the "fruits of our labour" as we packaged and labelled the soup.
A great social time
The soup was delivered the next day to an agency supporting "street kids"
