🧹 Community Clean Up — September 12! ♻️

It’s time to clear out those things you no longer need — and September 12 is the perfect opportunity to do it responsibly!

SECA’s Community Clean Up, held in partnership with the City of Calgary, gives residents a convenient way to dispose of unwanted household items while helping keep our neighbourhood clean and cared for.

Along with the City’s garbage trucks, SECA is bringing in recycling companies for metal, electronics, tires and rims. Bring your unused bikes for to refurbish and provide to youth. Cerebral Palsy Alberta will be accepting recyclable bottles, household goods, clothing and toys in good condition. If you have extra book in good condition, we will be collecting them for SECA’s network of Little Free Libraries.

✨ Clear out the garage.
✨ Tidy up the basement.
✨ Get rid of the things that have been taking up space.
✨ And help keep our community looking its best!

Mark your calendar: Saturday, September 12.

Start preparing and collecting your items. We are especially keen to receive your metal items, as a small rebate from the metal collected contributes to SECA events.

🎨 TEENS — HELP US BRING THE MURAL TO LIFE!

Remember that crazy hail storm?! 🌨️ Well… it put a little pause on our community mural, generously donated by Tourism Calgary. 😅

The mural is drawn and ready to go — it just needs YOU to bring it to life! 🎨🔥

Come help us finish colouring our community mural at Shawnee East Park. Grab a friend, pick your favourite colours, add your own style and help turn this big canvas into something the whole neighbourhood can enjoy.

🌳 PLAY in the PARK — Come Play, Explore & Connect! 💙

Join us Sunday, August 16 & 23 - from 1:00–2:30 pm at Shawnee East Park (150 Shawnee Blvd) for a FREE afternoon of outdoor fun, with snacks and drinks provided! All Welcome.

On August 16 & 23, we’re delighted to welcome Rochellie Lywin who is an Outdoor & Nature-Based Learning Specialist and owner of Three Pines Outdoor and Nature Play. Children of a variety of ages will enjoy the stations she has planned - a fun, active mix of nature-based activities — encouraging creativity, curiosity, problem-solving and a love of the outdoors. 🌿 Younger children may require parental support.

A community mural on canvas will be available for those who enjoy a quieter activity - parents too!

Or simply come to play, explore and enjoy some time outdoors!

💙 WE ARE BUILDING BELONGING
Play in the Park is about more than creating great outdoor experiences for children. It’s about creating connections that can grow beyond the afternoon.

We are bringing children together to make new friends, and parents and caregivers to get to know the people who live around them. Because the next time you head to the park, it’s even better when you see a friendly face — and have someone to play with.

So bring your family, invite a neighbour and come enjoy an afternoon together in the park!
