Planning is underway for a Transit-Oriented Community (TOC) development at the Fish Creek-Lacombe station by CMLC. As part of the next phase of community engagement, CMLC is seeking community input on the MASTER PLAN VISION for the new TOC.

🎾 Pickleball & Tennis Players 🎾 On May 22, the courts at the park on Shawnee Drive were resurfaced by the City — great news for the long term!

⛔️ THE COURTS ARE LOCKED and may remain out of service for the next week or two. The contractor doing the resurfacing could not confirm when the line markings will be re-applied.

We’ll share updates as soon as we have them. Thanks for your patience!

A big thank you to the City for responding to our request, and to the caring resident who brought both the maintenance concern and the work-in-progress update to our attention.

⛔️ The ROAD CLOSURE of SHAWNEE DRIVE SW is scheduled from May 22 to 25. 🚧

See the image - On Shawnee Drive, coming from Evergreen Street, there is no access to the traffic circle at Shawnee Blvd. The traffic circle remains open from the other direction (coming from the LRT).

The road closure allows for the installation of deep utilities (sanitary, storm, and watermains) by Volker Stevin to service future lots in the area.

Following this part of the project, ground work is estimated at 4 weeks, followed by road work and shallow utility installations (Enmax, Telus, Rogers, and ATCO).

ROAD DEBRIS & MUD management will include weekly (Friday afternoons) street cleaning. DUST CONTROL measures are in place.

🎨 Help shape the new community art coming to Shawnee Evergreen! 🎨

Something exciting is coming to our neighbourhood! This summer, thanks to funding from the Calgary Arts Development, six of our HB1 (bear-proof) garbage bins will be transformed into vibrant public art pieces featuring wayfinding imagery that celebrates our community. And next summer, we hope to complete 6 more art installations (pending funding).

This project grew directly from SECA’s 2024 community engagement work, where residents identified three important priorities:
✨ Building a stronger community identity
✨ Helping residents and visitors discover local amenities
✨ Bringing more beauty, creativity, and vibrancy into our public spaces

We also hope these artistic transformations will help discourage the tagging and graffiti that has recently begun appearing in parts of our community.

Our artist, Rachel Lyon, wants to hear from YOU!

What places make our community special? What do you love most about living here? What landmarks, pathways, parks, or hidden gems should inspire this artwork?

The more stories, ideas, and insights you share, the better Rachel can capture the spirit of our neighbourhood.
