HIV/AIDS currently has no cure, but it is treatable. With proper care, treatment, and medication adherence, people living with HIV can live healthy and fulfilling lives.

U = U means Undetectable = Untransmittable.

This means that a person living with HIV who is on consistent treatment and has reached an undetectable viral load cannot s*xually transmit HIV to others.

Knowledge is power.

At AfroCare Support Network, we believe stigma remains one of the biggest barriers preventing people from seeking testing, support, and healthcare.

No one should feel ashamed for getting tested, asking questions, or accessing care.

This concerns all of us because your health matters. Let’s make informed decisions about our s*xual health, starting with knowing our status.

Knowing your status does not mean publicly disclosing your personal information. It means choosing to take better care of yourself and your wellbeing.

Yes, you — this message is for you too. Please take care of your health, including your s*xual health.

Sexual violence is often surrounded by silence in many Black communities.
Not because it isn’t happening but because speaking up can feel heavier than staying quiet.

There’s fear of not being believed.
Fear of bringing shame to family.
Fear of being judged, dismissed, or told to “keep it within the community.”

These barriers are real. And they have kept too many people from getting the support they deserve.

But silence doesn’t protect us, it protects harm.

You deserve to be heard without judgment.
You deserve support that understands your experiences, your culture, and your reality.
You deserve spaces where your voice is taken seriously.

Breaking the silence doesn’t mean sharing everything publicly.
It can start with one conversation. One message. One step toward support.

If you or someone you know needs support, we’re here to listen confidentially and without judgment.
Reach out to us or send us a DM. You don’t have to go through this alone.

Today is National Women & Girls HIV/AIDS Awareness Day — a reminder that awareness, testing, and community support save lives.

In Canada, Black communities continue to be disproportionately impacted by HIV. Although race-based data is limited, Black people represented about 18% of new HIV diagnoses in Canada in 2022 where race was reported, far higher than their share of the population.
In Ontario, Black women account for the largest proportion of new HIV diagnoses among women, highlighting the urgent need for awareness and access to testing and care.

At Afro Care Support Network, we believe everyone deserves care, information, and support without stigma.

Know your status. Start the conversation. Protect your health and your community.
Get tested and learn about HIV support services today.

HIV Is Not a Crime Awareness Day reminds us that living with HIV should never mean living with stigma, discrimination, or criminalization.

HIV is a health condition — not a crime. Yet criminalization disproportionately impacts Black communities and creates more fear than protection. Science is clear: U=U (Undetectable = Untransmittable). Access to testing, treatment, and culturally grounded support saves lives.

At Afro Care Support Network, we believe in care over punishment, education over fear, and community over stigma.

HIV — It spreads through certain body fluids, including blood, semen, vaginal fluids, and breast milk. This can happen during unprotected s*x or by sharing needles or other injection equipment.

Here’s the important part: HIV is preventable and treatable.

Regular testing means you know your status. Prevention tools like condoms and PrEP can greatly reduce your risk. And with treatment, people living with HIV can live long, healthy lives — and when their viral load becomes undetectable, they can’t pass HIV to their s*xual partners (U=U).

Love smart. Test regularly. Protect yourself and your partners.
