Renaissance Canada

Renaissance Canada Reaching artists. Restoring culture. A national outreach movement & institute dedicated to reaching artists & equipping churches.

05/12/2026

Hey everyone! It’s currently missions month at my home church, .church and I had the opportunity to share a little update about Renaissance, what’s been happening, and the current projects I’m currently working on in Calgary and in the NWT!

I’ve been deeply impacted by the ways God has been working through the arts, using it as a vehicle for restoration and healing in some of the people we’ve been working closely with, especially at the . I’m believing for more doors to be opened across (!!!) Canada for programming that engages in rehabilitation/restoration through the arts.

God has been so incredibly faithful in this season of ministry and as I’ve been dreaming bigger, I actually wanted to invite you all into prayerfully considering partnering with the work that has been going on through Renaissance! As we anticipate the needs and costs involved with running these programs, we are in need of monthly financial partners! There’s a link in the bio if you feel led to give. Renaissance would not exist if not for the generosity of those who believe in the arts and believe in the justice-oriented, restorative work that is taking place in the arts and artists. There is a bright future ahead for Canada’s artists! I’m excited to see what God will do.

Thanks for your time 🩵
Jess

MEET AMBER ✨

As some of you might know, we’ve been running creative programming at the Calgary Dream Centre since January! Our heart has always been to create low-barrier spaces and opportunities where people can engage with the arts and artistic programming.

We’ve been privileged to partner with an organization that we’ve deeply admired for years and to be able to create spaces for residents to not only engage with art and creativity, but also create spaces of healing and discovery in the process. It’s been so unique to journey through recovery with some of the residents and hear some of the incredible stories. We are so honoured to be a part of and see some of the work that’s come out of it. Amber has been a huge help in this step forward in the kind of work we’re hoping to continue throughout Calgary!

Merry Christmas from Renaissance, Renaissance Creative Leadership Podcast & House of Four.

This season, we sit with deep gratitude for all artists and leaders, for makers and listeners, for those who wear the work and those who help shape it. Each of these spaces and entities exist because of community, creativity, and a shared belief that beauty, story, and faith still matter.

As we celebrate the birth of Christ, we’re also looking ahead with great anticipation and excitement. 2026 will hold new missions initiatives, projects, launches, creative programming, collections, and meaningful conversations still to come.

Thank you for walking with us, for believing & supporting the vision, and being part of what’s being built slowly, thoughtfully, and with care.

Here’s to rest, renewal, and the joy of what’s ahead. May 2026 be the best year yet 🖤

In the stillness of this week, Love comes not with force,
but with presence.

God draws near—not to impress, but to dwell with us.

Take a moment today to sit with the Love that first came to us. Happy Christmas Eve 🤍

Advent love is learned by watching how God comes near— and then choosing to come near to one another.

May we rest in the great Father’s love today, and pass it on to one another 🤍

In Gerard van Honthorst’s Adoration of the Christ Child, love takes on a quiet, radiant form.

This is not love announced with power or force, but love made visible through nearness. Faces lean in. Hands are gentle. The light does not dominate the room—it invites it. Christ Himself becomes the source of illumination, revealing a love that draws others close rather than holding them at a distance.

As you enter Visio Divina today, stay with the tenderness of the scene.

Notice how love stoops.
Notice how love waits.
Notice how love makes space for wonder.

This is Advent love: God not watching from afar, but coming close enough to be held.

May you behold the Love that first beheld you.

Advent invites us to listen for joy in unexpected places.

This week, we sit with Mary’s song—a hymn of praise rising from humility, courage, and trust. Her joy is not naive, but prophetic; proclaiming a God who lifts the lowly and fills the hungry with good things.

May her song teach us how to rejoice even while we wait.

Joy arrives not with excess, but with revelation. In Guido Reni’s Adoration of the Shepherds, heaven’s promise meets the ordinary lives of those who were simply watching their flocks by night. This image invites us into a joy born of encounter; the quiet astonishment of realizing that God has come near.

As we enter the third week of Advent, we are invited to behold a joy that does not rush past the moment, but lingers in wonder, gratitude, and awe.
