While doing our greenhouse renovation, look who stopped by for a visit! The Honourable Rebecca Alty, Minister of Crown-Indigenous Relations and Member of Parliament for the Northwest Territories. We had a terrific conversation about this greenhouse, the new ones we will build this summer, and the potential to build them across the territories. We also spoke about other ways we can help eliminate insecurities in basic needs.

Honoured to have been invited by Senator Anderson and Christine Sentongo-Andersen to the Senate Chamber to celebrate all of the work being done in the Arctic and discuss what lies ahead. The meeting was attended by leaders from Indigenous, federal, and territorial governments, foreign ambassadors, north-focused corporations, and several non-profits. It was exciting to see all of the energy in the room, hear about all of the great things to come, share ideas, and make connections that we can all use to further the cause. The High North of Canada is filled with the most wonderful people, but their struggle is real. It is profound and has continued too long. We are happy to work alongside the amazing people we met in Ottawa as we serve the people of the North of 60.

Grey Eagle is a fantastic Indigenous business in Calgary and we were thrilled to partner with them as we raise funds and awareness for the Indigenous North.

What a gorgeous day for golf! Last Friday, Promise for the North welcomed 141 of Calgary's wonderful people out for a day at Blue Devil Golf Course, including 120 from Calgary Police Services, Calgary Fire Department, and the Calgary Burn Treatment Society. These people serve the community every day, going above and beyond to make Calgary a wonderful city, and it was our honour to host them at this event. The tournament was a huge success, raising critically needed funds to complete construction of a greenhouse in Tsiigehtchic, Northwest Territories. The greenhouse will be solar powered and have grow lights and heat, allowing it to produce crop year-round, providing the entire hamlet with all of the produce they need. This greenhouse will allow the families of Tsiigehtchic to move from food insecurity through food security to food sovereignty. Great day, great people, great outcome! Thanks to one and all!

Only 1 week until our very first charity golf tournament. Next Friday we will be at the beautiful Blue Devil Golf Course in the great city of Calgary, with 144 golfers playing in a tournament to help us raise the last 20% of funds needed to build a solar powered, heated, grow light filled greenhouse in Tsiigehtchic, NT. A greenhouse that will provide a healthy food source to the entire community, create much needed employment opportunities, and provide a gathering centre that is a place of pride and hope for this remote and often isolated community.

Last post on the Tuktoyaktuk trip. It’s a warm, tightly knit hamlet full of wonderful people in an amazing location. Their remoteness presents challenges few of us face, but they work together to meet those challenges as a family. We have a chance to put together government grants, foundation grants, and charitable donations to get them the things they need to fulfill their basic needs, allowing more to pursue their dreams.
