🚗 We get asked this question a lot: "I don't have specialized skills. Can I get by just driving for Uber?"

Here’s the honest answer:
"Yes, it’s possible. And many newcomers do it."
"What you need to drive for Uber in Calgary:"

✅ A valid Alberta driver’s license (or a recognized foreign license valid for one year)
✅ A vehicle less than 10 years old in good condition
✅ Commercial insurance (different from personal insurance—this is important!)
✅ A clean criminal record (background check required by Uber)
✅ An active Uber Driver account

💰 Average earnings: $800 to $1,800 CAD/month, depending on hours worked

In Alberta, you can drive using your foreign license for one year after arriving. But after that, you need to take action.

Here’s how to get your Alberta license:
📋 𝐒𝐭𝐞𝐩 𝟏: Bring your foreign license, proof of residency, and ID to a registry office.
📋 𝐒𝐭𝐞𝐩 𝟐: Depending on your country of origin, you might be exempt from the practical driving test!(Recognized countries include: France, Belgium, Italy, Morocco, South Korea, Japan, and others.)
📋 𝐒𝐭𝐞𝐩 𝟑: Pass the Alberta rules of the road knowledge test (𝑎𝑣𝑎𝑖𝑙𝑎𝑏𝑙𝑒 𝑖𝑛 𝐹𝑟𝑒𝑛𝑐ℎ!).

❤️ Your first day in Canada can be the best... or the most stressful day of your life.

At HANA, we’ve welcomed dozens of families at Calgary Airport. Here’s what we’ve learned:

👉 Customs can be intimidating. Keep your documents in a folder close at hand.
👉 The cold can catch you off guard, even in summer. Keep a jacket in your carry-on.
👉 Unofficial taxis do exist at YYC. Use only official taxi stands or contact us.
👉 Your first move: buy a Canadian SIM card before leaving the airport.
👉 And above all: take a deep breath. You’ve already done the hard part. 🙏
