Join us for our season finale concert!

returns with another fascinating cross-cultural musical exploration featuring director Kiya Tabassian with Didem Basar and Patrick Graham. They will bring us on a journey with musical treasures from medieval Spanish and Italian repertoire to Persian music from the 16th and 17th centuries, plus a few original compositions based on 13th-century Persian poetry.

Our friend Calgary Bach Society presents an afternoon of choral and organ music exploring the influence of the Italian Baroque on composers like J.S. Bach and Handel.

The program features works by Lotti, Pitoni, Palestrina, Vivaldi, Strozzi, Marcello, and Schubert, with guest sopranos Hannah Pagenkopf & Lauren Woods and organist Gary Tong performing Bach’s transcription of a Vivaldi concerto.

A perfect concert for lovers of Baroque music and first-time listeners alike!

Join us this Sunday as trombonist Maximilien Brisson (Montréal) performs expressive early baroque laments with harpsichordist Christophe Gauthier and organist Luc Beauséjour. Calgary soprano Hannah Pagenkopf - Soprano joins the ensemble for a program exploring the remarkable connection between voice and instrument in 17th-century music.

Spend an afternoon immersed in the evocative sounds of early Italian Baroque music at Scorrete lagrime mie!

Trombonist Maximilien Brisson, with harpsichordist Christophe Gauthier, organist Luc Beauséjour, and guest soprano Hannah Pagenkopf, will present a programme including works by Barbara Strozzi, Francesca Caccini, Sigismondo d'India, and Giovanni Battista.
This programme explores the connection between voice and instrument, both through their interaction and in the solo exploration of an instrument's capacity to evoke qualities of the voice, exemplified by the sackbut, the early form of the trombone.

Jeanine Williams (CCC) holds a Master of Counselling and a Master of Music, blending her expertise in psychology and the arts to create integrative wellness practices. As a creative practitioner and artist, she explores the intersection of expressive arts, wellness, and community. Based in Lethbridge, she is dedicated to supporting and promoting authenticity; fostering connection, resilience, and self-expression.

Hannah Orr is a Canadian soprano and graduate of the University of Manitoba, where she completed her Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance. Hannah, a distinguished performer, has won several prestigious competitions, including the Provincial Music Festival in Alberta and Manitoba. She was also awarded the Tudor Bowl in her first year of undergraduate studies.
Most recently, Hannah earned 1st place in the Lawrence Genser Competition and was honoured with the "Phyllis Ilavsky Scholarship" at the 2024 Women's Musical Club Scholarship Competition. Additionally, she claimed 1st place in the Zita Bernstein German Lieder Competition.

Join us this Saturday, September 27th, for Saints & Lovers: Medieval Song on the Margins, featuring the wonderful Jaimee Jarvie!
Jaimee Jarvie, soprano, is an active performer, conductor and teacher in Lethbridge, Alberta, working at the University of Lethbridge Conservatory of Music. She also runs a private voice studio of nearly 40 singers and conducts the Alegre Youth Choir. She performs regularly in the vocal duo Tan & Jam, which has spent the last year hosting a series of fundraiser concerts to raise money for Lethbridge charities. Jaimee Jarvie earned her Bachelor of Music Degree in Vocal Performance from the University of Lethbridge in 2013, followed by her Master of Music Degree in 2024. When she isn’t busy making music, she can be found cross-stitching the day away!

We are thrilled to welcome the incredible Janet Youngdahl for Saints & Lovers: Medieval Song on the Margins!
Janet Youngdahl is a soprano, academic and choral conductor, and serves as the Professor of Music at the University of Lethbridge. She has toured with the medieval music ensemble Sequentia and has performed on recordings with several major labels, including Deutsche Harmonia Mundi, BMG, Phillips, RCA and BIS records. A recent recipient of an SSHRC Insight grant, her work has also received support from the National Endowment for the Humanities and Villa I Tatti. Her work as a specialist in the chant of Hildegard von Bingen has fostered invitations to offer lectures and workshops with the University of Toronto, the University of Calgary, Boston University, Brandeis University and the American Academy in Rome.
