Last night, more than 100 people gathered in Calgary for our Bioregional Organizing Assembly to talk about the future of the Eastern Slopes headwaters, and the room was full of care, urgency, and possibility.
What we are building is bigger than a single meeting. We are working toward a stronger bioregional network: one that connects upstream and downstream communities, turns shared concern into coordinated action, and helps protect and restore the land and waters that give this place life.
The Eastern Slopes are not just a backdrop or a resource zone. They are Alberta’s water towers, a living system of forests, rivers, wetlands, wildlife, and communities, all deeply connected. What happens there affects all of us downstream.
Last night reminded us that people are ready. Ready to connect. Ready to organize. Ready to imagine a future grounded in watershed health, cumulative effects management, restoration, democratic participation, and a regenerative relationship with place.
Thank you to everyone who came, listened, shared, and stepped forward. This is how a movement grows: relationship by relationship, gathering by gathering, action by action.
We’re just getting started.
