A hard fought weekend at the Wheelchair Rugby National Championship by the Alberta Prospects and Alberta Bighorns!

Congratulation to our Calgary Inferno teammates Ashley (1.0) and Dave (1.5) for winning Best in their Class for Div 2!

Congratulations also goes out to Alberta Bighorns teammates Kim for winning the Rising Star Award, and Christian for winning Best in Class 3.0 for Div 2!

A competitive weekend for all the athletes with more growth to come heading into next year!

Congratulations to an awesome season of wheelchair rugby! To all the athletes within the club levels and who represented their province this past weekend, keep up the hard work and continue showing our community and country why wheelchair rugby is a sport to be loved by not only those who play, but everyone who watches, supports and cheers us on!

Our Alberta women smashed a milestone this past weekend in Montreal competing at Canada’s first ever Women’s Wheelchair Rugby National Championship! 👏
The Western Lights which included our Calgary Inferno teammate Kasey Aiello along with Red Deer Reapers Kim Payzant took home gold! 🏆
The Central Lights won silver after a hard fought battle by our Calgary Inferno teammate Ashley Munro and Edmonton Steel Wheels Kendall Winter! 🥈
Kasey finally got knocked over for the first time! Laughs were had, friendship bracelets were made (no easy feat with limited hand function), and some fierce rugby was showcased. Go back and watch the livestreams for proof!
Thank you Wheelchair Rugby Canada and Wheelchair Sports Alberta for helping fund their journey! Thank you AlterGo for hosting! History was made and we can’t wait to see what’s next for Canadian Women’s Wheelchair Rugby!
