The Alberta Coalition for Watershed Security has released its response to the Government of Alberta's 2026 Budget, identifying practical opportunities to invest in natural infrastructure, enhance watershed protection and strengthen programs that safeguard Alberta’s water resources. The response focuses on solutions that align with economic priorities while building long-term resilience. The Alberta Coalition for Watershed Security (the Coalition), steered by Alberta Ecotrust, has taken thoughtful, practical steps toward strengthening long-term water stewardship in our province.

The Coalition’s efforts to date have centred on four strategic objectives: Sustaining investment in watershed resilience, building the framework for a province-wide Coalition, strengthening government relations capacity across the environmental sector, and laying the groundwork for increased investments in watershed security.

Recent advances in cleaner fuel technologies show that low-carbon hydrogen can help us reach net-zero, particularly in sectors where cutting emissions is more challenging. When it comes to solutions for fueling our long-haul and heavy-duty trucking sector, vehicles powered by hydrogen fuel cells provide significant range, higher energy density and faster refuelling times, key requirements for heavy-duty trucking.
