Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) has officially launched the National Home Labelling website and published the new Guidelines for Virtual Home Labelling. This marks an important milestone for residential energy efficiency in Canada.

Alberta Ecotrust is proud to have contributed to this conversation through a pilot project, engagement with more than 500 REALTORS and by sharing the findings through our policy work. One of the core recommendations in our policy paper was the creation of a standardized and transparent home labelling framework to support consistent comparisons across homes. The newly published guidelines for virtual home labelling respond directly to that need.

Applications for the summer intake of our Getting to Zero Research Project are open today July 13! Designers, builders, consultants, contractors, developers and residential homebuilders across Alberta are encouraged to submit an expression of interest by August 14.

This project is partnering with industry to reduce emissions by turning real-world data from low or zero emission buildings into practical insights that can be applied across Alberta.
