Welcome to our Cat Breed of the Day: PERSIAN & EXOTIC SHORTHAIR & HIMALAYAN
Information from tica.org/breeds/persian/ Have fun exploring!

AT A GLANCE
The Persian Breed Group includes the Persian, its shorthair counterpart, the Exotic Shorthair, and its colourpointed counterpart, the Himalayan. All three breeds are known for their sweet, flat faces, large, round eyes, fat cheeks, and quiet personality that gets along with everyone.

CHARACTERISTICS
Persians, Exotic Shorthairs, and Himalayans are medium to large cats with well-developed muscular bodies that are short and cobby with little short legs. Their heads are round with open sweet expressions much like beautiful pansy flowers. The head is round like a ball, the square body balanced by a short thick tail. Huge round eyes light up the face, the snug nose sits right between the eyes with open nostrils that can breathe freely. Persian and Himalayan cats have long, luxuriant coats that take time and expertise to maintain, while the teddybear looking Exotic Shorthair is affectionately called the lazy person's Persian for its substantially easier to maintain short dense coat and are also considered livelier and more inquisitive than their long-haired counterparts.

Welcome to our Cat Breed of the Day: AMERICAN CURL & LONGHAIR
Information from tica.org/breeds/american-curl/ Have fun exploring!

AT A GLANCE
American Curls are best known for their distinctively shaped ears, which is the result of a spontaneous ear mutation.

DID YOU KNOW?
-American Curls began with a cat named Shulamith discovered in California USA in 1981
-American Curls are born with straight ears that curl up into a tight 'rosebud' within 2-3 days then unfold again into their final curvature between 1.5-4 months

Welcome to our Cat Breed of the Day: THAI
Information from tica.org/breeds/thai/ Have fun exploring!

AT A GLANCE
Thais pack a ton of personality into their medium to large frame. They are 'chatty' cats who will tell you all about their day and adore spending time with their families.

DID YOU KNOW?
-Thais comes from a genetically unique population of cats that still naturally occur in Thailand
-Thai cats, also called 'old-style Siamese' or 'applehead', preserve the look of the Siamese breed as it occurred 100+ years ago in Siam (now Thailand)
-Thais' pale body and dark points (called seal point) are caused by the same gene that causes it to have blue eyes

CHARACTERISTICS
Thai began to diverge from the more extreme type of the Siamese breed in the 1950s. The key to distinguishing Thais from other shorthaired, pointed breeds is in the head shape and body style. Thai are shorthaired, pointed cats of foreign type with moderately long and substantial, supple, lithe body in no way extreme. Thai have a short, flat coat loose enough to feel soft and silky. The forehead is long and flat with good width to the head and an inward curve at the cheekbones to the gradually tapering muzzle toward the nose in a shape not unlike a spade. Ears are broad at the base and set quite high on the head almost like fingers in the peace sign.
