Our Story
Alberta has one of the highest rates of domestic violence in Canada. In Calgary, police receive more than 18,000 domestic conflict calls per year and one in five of them involve some form of physical violence.
The Calgary Domestic Violence Collective (CDVC) is an organic collective comprised of more than 70 community partners whose purpose is to identify and support high-impact opportunities, share knowledge and influence norms, practices, programs and policies related to domestic violence prevention.
As a collective, we are stewards of a movement based on relationships and a common agenda. We are not bound by structure or hierarchy – in fact, adaptability is our essence; allowing us to embrace new and emergent ideas.
