Vision Statement
To build a sense of community that encourages involvement between neighborhoods, while preserving the unique nature of each neighborhood. We the Community Association will strive to develop a community that will be Friendly, Safe and Environmentally Sensitive. We will strive to accomplish our vision by recruiting and working with committed volunteers, assisting and coordinating sh
ared programs and amenities, working towards financial stability and providing effective input to planning and transportation. A Community Association (CA) is an organization formed by the residents of an area. They can apply and receive Society status. Only those that pay the membership fee are members. The CA is made up of volunteers that organize, manage and direct its social and recreational activities for the community. Any operating costs will be covered through fundraising. A Community Association acts as an intervener in civic matters (planning and development). It can plan, develop and maintain community facilities and amenities. Rocky Ridge Royal Oak Community Association is a small group of volunteers who meet regularly and work constantly to:
tackle and fix residents' concerns;
review and adjust development applications;
watch out for environmental concerns;
run children and community based programs;
provide insurance for supported sport and area usage activities;
communicate area and city issues to the residents;
represent the community to the outside world;
communicate with the Ward 1 and 2 Councillors, the Member of the Legislature of Alberta, and with the Member of Parliament. Please note that the City communicates overall area issues directly with the Community Association and does not necessarily recognize residents associations as the "voice" of the people. If you enroll your child in a sports program in this community you must have membership so that insurance coverage is assured. If you join the Community Association voluntarily because you want to afford the association the operating budget to give good government representation, then we thank you! RRROCA FB Policy:
Respect – All interactions must be of a respectful nature. We request that you remain respectful of other participants and the volunteers in our community association. Moderation – RRROCA will respect freedom of speech in its social media spaces. However, commentary which is determined to be offensive, out of context, wrongfully exaggerated or harmful to the brand of RRROCA will be removed and/or moderated. Failure to participate in a spirit which respects these principles can result in a participant's contributions being moderated or a participant being removed from RRROCA interaction.
