The Coessens MAKE It Matter

We have chosen to run the Spartan Race to raise funds for the Make It Matter and make a change in the education system in Quebec.

Over the next month I will have the honor to embark on one of the greatest personal initiatives that I have taken on. Together with Make It Matter (MIM), a non-profit organization that funds project specific initiatives that support quality education for all learners, we want to raise funds for future academic resources that will enhance their educational experience. My family and I will be runnin

g the Spartan Super Race on the 6th of August to raise funds for Make It Matter, who was co-founded by a student from Concordia. If you haven’t heard of the Spartan Race it is an innovating obstacle racing on a global scale with more than 130 races around the world annually. They offer three core races each escalating in distance, obstacle count and challenge level. The idea behind this initiative was after having done my first Spartan Race a few months ago and absolutely enjoying it led me to try and do my second Spartan Race in the same year. However, this time I thought about doing it for a good cause. People run marathons for a charity in order to raise money. So why not switch it up a little and run an obstacle course to raise money for a NGO. At the end of the race I would hope to have raise a descent amount in order to help Make It Matter make a change in the education system in Quebec.

Yesterday, we have completed the Spartan Race at the Calabogie Peaks Resort!! It was a challenge but it was a lot of fun!!

Tomorrow this time, we will be running the Spartan Race!
We are very excited and thankful for the amazing support we have received!

My father, Bart Coessens will be running his 5th Spartan Race.

My brother, Maarten Coessens will be running his 4th Spartan Race.

And I will be running my 2nd one! It won't be my last! ;)

We are honoured to have received the support of ASFA Concordia for our initiative of raising funds for Make it Matter!

Together we can build a stronger, united community and come one step closer in making the world we live in better

The ASFA would like to express its support for Annelies Coessens, a Political Science and Women's Studies student under Concordia University’s FAS - Concordia's Faculty of Arts and Science, who will be competing in the Spartan Super Race on August 5th in order to raise funds for the Make it Matter foundation.
